did BIG redifine what makes an ill emcee? no way. dont get me wrong, BIGs one of my favorite rappers, he was definately nice. but having the ability to spit simple type shit and make it sound nice isn't anything new. people have been doing that since the begining. just say what you gotta say, and have it rhyme at the same time.look at basically all the old old school rappers...like, from 79-85...tell me how complex their verses were...then EPMD, Tribe,2Pac old Ice Cube...Public Enemy....Slick Rick.you get my point, none of them had the most complex verses, it's more their delivery and flow. his delivery and flow is more what made him a great, it's the same thing with alot of greats. he was original... had his own style... and could spit... that doesnt mean you're redefining anything. he's a great... he didnt redifine what an ill emcee is...

Honestly, it's because of a vocal technique that he used called sympathetic tone. That's all.

Ask Tupac and 'Dear Mama' about it.

Flow isn't part of wht makes a good emcee, lyrics do <-- in your opinion. To have a good flow is all based around lyrics in the first place. If wht you're sayin is so easy, everybody would have illmatic flow. Look at any texthead that goes audio, their flow SUCKS! because it obviously aint' as easy as it looks.

You have to have a certain amount of experience with rap to even have respect for a skill like that.
