Racism:

Well no, it's not obvious why the word nigger is offensive, apparently.

people look to the word nigger for its origins and early usage in the US as a reason to say it's not offensive, but it is only offensive because of modern day people using it to associate all dark skinned peoples that are not of "Caucasian" or light-skinned descent with not just slavery, but an overall lack of everything in a light-skinned person's comparison.

It has been this way only since a quarter way through the 1900's, and continues to this day with people who consider their white skin to be superior throwing the word in dark skin people's faces.

When in reality it means Black in Latin and deviations of the word only appeared when people felt a significance to their certain time/area. A lot of general ethnocentrism surrounds the word also, as some people in history have preferred one deviation of the word over another because of where one word came from, such as the Spanish or French deviation of the Latin word versus the strict Latin deviation.

This is why the word is racist, so if you're going to call a dark skinned person a nigger, you could be considered racist by people who might assume such a thing, but if you're openly referring to a person's skin color, in modern times, you should always say "black", because we are not Latin nor do we use their language unless it is as a reason to describe origins.

Negroes of America thus would be acceptable,

but it's just overall easier to say Blacks of America.

I know you won't read or w/e, but you wouldn't read my post either so there. It's not really directed at you. It's just shit that I just post since that article is written by a white person therefore it's credible to people since black people don't have the authority to analyze what's going on in their lives to a lot of white people. It's not like it's the bible of my beliefs though. For one, I don't get offended by someone saying nigger. I don't care if someone doesn't like black people. Racism is only a problem when it becomes an identity issue. The same way that any other form of collectivism does. If a white person sees hisself as superior, racism is beneficial because it's something he or she could fall back on if they're not feeling confident. The reverse is true if he sees whites as inferior. So yeah, it's in someone's head. So if someone gets offended by being called Nigger they obviously see themselves as inferior. The problem is, if a policemen or a US marine kills someone and detains them because their race made them appear more "guilty" to them, me not "worrying" about it, won't really do much, but make people who aren't affected by it(or are likely to never be affected by it) feel better for some reason.(pride is more important than fairness)

And for the most part, people who keep saying shut up about racism only want people to shut up about it because most of the people being criticized are white people. The second a reverend wright issue comes up and a black person(or any other non white person) is being racist, they're perfectly okay with it. They won't tell white people to shut up. And I know it's not as bad as it was 20 years ago. It's not bad because racism stopped being TOLERATED. That's why things have improved(if that's how you wanna look at it)
