Well if you talking texcees, ist not even comparable. Like stated before a lot of cats can WRITE dope as hell but when it comes to vocaly having it dope that shit is just as trash as anything, and those the same cats that wanna hate on the commercial cats and wonder why they ain't making it and can't constuct and compose and audiable SONG to save they life. Thats one of the most distictive and important quilities of an Emcee is his voice, flow and candence on the mic. If you don't have that you ain't no emcce. I don;t care how good you write.

It dosn't even make since to compare Your Lord and Savoir Eminem (thats what I call him now 'round these parts) to a textcee, becasue if you put what Your Lord and Savoir Eminem says on text it won't look that special, even though it my be a dope song in audio. But if you put a texcee in a studio with a mic and tell him to rip, lets saw how those "dope" lyrics come out then, alot of them cats can't flow if they was James Even's wife......

You can go do like Saul Williams and make a book of spoken word poetry and do that, but don;t go around running up on people calling yourself an emcee

I listen to a ton of underground artists, and a lot of net audio heads as well. Many can compete lyrically and vocally with emcees like Eminem. But please, don't ever say Eminem isn't talented or good or even one of the best around. Because he is, his lyrics are dope along with his flow. Yes, there are better emcees undergound or on the net than him, but not many. Salvation is a dope audio head who could also murder many textcees as well. Not that I take much of this shit serious, but its easy to recognize talent. And I have to say my favorite underground artist is Immortal Technique. They're not totally underground, but they aren't very well known. But they're lyrics are amazing in every way. Download the song "Dance With The Devil" by them and you'll see why they are so dope. Trust . .

That song is embarassing.....nothing more than his fucking attempt to capitalize on the White Pac statements.....

Like I said before - many people can write a good song, many people can write complicated lyrics, many people can be clever and draw your attention in their writing - very few can PERFORM that writing.

Even if you can write cleverer punchlines, more multi's, or doper songs than a rapper like Eminem (I'm refering to 1996-2001 Eminem), which is believable to some extent, I SERIOUSLY doubt you can flow better than him, or have a better devilvery. So even if you can write well, if you can't perform well, it means jack shit. What're you gonna do, put up a huge billboard with your lyrics on them at a concert and play a beat in the background?

Of course image sells, but if your on the right label, then you can do your own thing anyway. Eminem was Slim Shady before Dre signed him, so he did his own thing with the Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers LP's. And Def Jux too - they're definately not going for what sells. Eminem was simply lucky that his style appealed in the mainstream, but that doesn't stop him being talented. It's when you do have potential, but you choose not to use it, like in 50 Cent's case (Power Of The Dollar was decent at least, unlike GRODT) that you become a "sellout". Other examples include Snoop Dogg.

So you get two bottom lines:

1. You gotta sound good as well as write good.
2. Talent should be judged on quality, not success.

Eminem's flow isn't great, and his delivery is average. I don't see how you guys can amp him up so much .. seriously ..

but royce will make it, he's got the talent you need - the skills to write, flow & market - his market is just more of a niche market because most people that buy mainstream music don't put as much value on lyrical abilty as peeps like us - we appreciate it because we know what talent it really is to write well - but flow and delivery is just as important to make it, marketing is a must... but it's always easier to market good quality than just an image.
