professional sports WILL fall off BIG in the next 10 years...
and to take its place will be all different sorts of arts, music being one...

hiphop WILL grow, its rap that will fade.

"i dont think rap will die like many predict" <not a direct quote

^^^rap is already dead dawg

let's not compare the rap game to the NBA... sports and music are very different worlds...

and talking about who's album is most anticipated this year isn't useful either...cuz that shit is already here and now...

If y'all wanna talk about the future of rap as a genre then we need to look at other types of music...
take rock for example:
started all happy and shit like buddy holly = sugar hill gang
then gained a more meaningul message like Beatles = Public Enemy
There is a division like corporate rock and alternative = gangsta and underground
Now mainstream rock is giving way to traditional and dressed down artists like Norah Jones and the White Stripes, The Strokes etc... We can guess that rap may revert to modern versions of the sparse beats and rolling flows like that of Run DMC, LLCoolJ etc

This is just a hypothesis and the reality is gangsta and club will never really die becuz the styles are just too marketable to subarban class kids...

{Peace}

Hip hop mainstream has really gone down and thats a shame. Clothes cash cars all the songs are always the same and the lyrics are just weak. If hiphop continues to devolve like this then it will all be pointless in a matter of years...we need a big revival from some really hot artist to show the world what hip hop was meant to be, maybe open their eyes and draw them away from this petty shit. if not i fear the worst

I've got a good idea.

How about, instead of making pointless threads, you go out and actually listen to hip-hop that you enjoy? Have you considered just enjoying it for what it is, and not worrying about whether "it will be around for much longer"?

All I gotta say is I love hip hop music and I hope it lives forever cuz that's the music I grew up with. hip hop right now is not in a good stage. It's becoming too mainstream.
I mean all these rappers right now r just tryin to make it in the countdown and that is not inportant. Hip hop is supposed to be rebelious. I mean the old days of hiphop r great back when it was tupac, BIg, nas, JAyZ, DMX, mos def, Q tip people like them r great for the hip hop community there r real rappers. missy elliot is cool to but now it's getting too mainstream. I mean there takin the beef of 50cent and jarule like a GAME WHEN IT'S REALLY NOT. we don't want the same thing to happen to them to what happen to biggie and pac. becuasse 50 and ja r both incredible artist and they can take it back where it's supposed to be. Jay Z and nas r great example how beef r suppose to be. It's supposed to be who got's the best lyrics not who's got the bigger gun. FOr the future of hip hop I hope that there r mc out there who think they can make a diffrence go ahead cuz the only rappers right now that I think can bring hip hop where it's supposed to be is kanye west(he's a true rapper) peace out and much love
