It's because the world has reverted back to paganism.
Take a look around... Everyone is focused on everything BUT god. Even christians, they worship christianity, not Jesus. Priests get paid... Whats up with that? Being a priest is a career path now. Even religious authorities praise money, and recognition among men above their "own" God.
