The HYPOCRISY that is...Hip Hop

On more than one occasion, I've heard rappers say, "Hip hop is all about venting and going against the establishment." At least, that's part of the history of hip hop. But, if that's the case, why hasn't there ever been a successful, openly gay rapper? There's still persecution towards homosexuality. So, why isn't there anyone holding up the banner for equal rights for gays in rap? If rap is all about venting and expression, then have all the artists in history been heterosexual?
Hip Hop is hypocritical in that sense. |
