but yea...let's say this was racist...Something else that bothers me is how people deny the incidence of ANYTHING racial? I'm like, "exactly when is something ever racially motivated then?" That's the problem with racism in my opinion. It's subtle in so many ways. Back in the 1950s and 60s, they would literally spit in a black man's face. Today, they do it by denying him credit or erecting other economic barriers they know minorities will have a tough time overcoming. It's a game they force us all to play with out giving us the rules or instructions. It's up to the individual to figure it all out.

yeah, I dunno I just hate it when people try and ignore that there is still racism in this country..... like "if you want equality then you shouldnt even pay attention to race," yes well thats tru, BUT this country isnt at a point yet where that is possible, you have to acknowledge that discrimination is still here and a MAJOR problem in this country or else you will never get anywhere... ignoring it is not the answer.

seems like the more economically advantaged someone is, the more likely they are to deny the incidence of racism...wut do u think?

It irks me that people try to hide what happened in the 50s and 60s...that shit wasn't that long ago...and those people are still alive...So, there is racism in this country. What can be done about it? People need to speak out against it when they see it. Don't laugh at racial jokes, even if no "minority" is around. Minorities need to educate themselves on how the system works.

right, but the fact is PEOPLE provide them with that income, so if you've ever been to a professional sports event then you are a hypocrite if you also believe they get payed too much.......

but about the donating salary, thats a personal choice
its up to them what they do with they money that they've worked for

thats a moral issue with individuals, nothing to do with the league
the league cant just take their money and be like "nah sorry, you're not getting payed this year, people are starving in india"

yea, i kno, that was just an example
but when u look closely at it, its really heartless to have so much money go to entertainment when it could make such a difference somewhere else
n yes, i am a hypocrite, i've bought cds, gone to pro sports games, etc
almost every1 in the country has
but if i was nba player rich, i'd donate a lot of it

Well...u kno...some people get their rocks off puttin' other people down

but, nothing resembling racial jokes would ever be tolerated on most work places today...

^^That seems like an improvement. But, isn't that basically a bandaid on a laceration?

Shit has got to change. It's no secret that white people enjoy the privilege of being "white" in this country. So many people boast how "open minded" they are. But, I'm under the impression that if push came to shove, most if not all white people would use that privilege to their advantage.

The kids on this site amuse me. It's sort of the classic defense "but I got black friends." pssf...you don't know until you live it.

just want to say a couple things...

The US could give more money to countries such as India, that was mentioned, and the reason we dont is because the country's gov't doesnt use it for their people, they use it to buy weapons and shit with. We gave money to India and some other country that India hates, and we looked at their progress and all they had was more guns for their army and a nuclear powerplant....thats why we give them money in segments, or we just give them already made supplies, u cant just give a country that can be a potenial threat millions of dollars.....

and to memisis if u don't think clothes has anything to do with hip-hop culture then your fuckin stupid..would it be the same if every concert or music video or photo op' rappers had to wear suits because they 'professional' rappers? hell no it wouldnt, and when Hammer came out wearing those pants back in they day, that was a hip-hop clothing trend everyone got into...so clothes has to do a lot with hip-hop...

And the NBA is saying that they have to wear suits to and from games, practices, and any other events associated with the NBA, and the NBA is their job, their life, and they took away their freedom to wear what eva the hell they want, i can see them wearing suits to games and press conferences, but just going to a practice or anything else like that and having to wear a suit is dumb, i dont know where they got racism from tho.....

I dont think its racism its classism , because just like when kids at school hate on kids dat dont have the best clothes , those kids go out and lie, cheat and steal to get it. And also the young cats are trying so hard to like a Jay z , nelly and 50 that they forget bout there future , not everybody is going to have a hit single , to take them to da top.
