it's because it's an abbreviation of are not
people who say "it ain't worth it" for example are using incorrect grammar because the actual phrase it should be is "it isn't worth it" well actually thinking about it, ain't really isn't a word anyway, it's a form of slang because in the english language, the term isn't is the more correct term... bit of a brain teaser, but either way it's grammatically incorrect and slang
