Intro

Well, this was the first full week under my control. Things went pretty well, 14/17 battles went down, lots of activity here, some close battles, and some very exciting matches coming up for the December Special Event. With another good week, another dope mag is in store!

The LBL Cypher

The cypher this week was decent. Some wack stuff in it, but a good number of quotables. Glocks had some tight bars in the beginning and Vitticus showed some cool stuff in the end, but Comedian posted consistently enough in the cypher to take it for the second week in a row. These were the highlights of the Cypher.

The LBL Bounty

The first LBL Bounty was chosen to be John Hensley after his dope drop won him the LBL title. The bounty had some pretty nice drops. I hope in the future more of you participate, but props to everyone who did. Props to:

The Winner: John Hensley

The drops I read in the bounty were pretty consistent, nothing bad at all in them. Unfortunately, I felt that none of them quite had the knockout material to beat Hensley’s verse. Therefore, no one gets the W added to their record this week. Nick Fletcher came the closest, I almost gave this to him, but it wasn’t quite there. To know that I appreciate everyone’s efforts, these were some of the top punches from the Bounty.

Like I said, the drops were pretty consistent, but in terms of quotable material, it was definitely lacking. I know that the bounty only gives you 2 days to think of stuff, but hopefully you all will up your creativity in the future. Here were the best of the cypher.

Last Week’s Battle Reviews

LBL Championship Match: 1. Roger Glocks (19-1) vs 2. John Hensley (7-1)

This battle wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be, but it wasn’t bad. The last time these guys faced Hensley no-showed, but he showed up this time and came okay with a pretty consistent verse. Glocks came okay too, but not enough to fend off Hens. Hens won 9-0 to become the 9th champ of the LBL and end Glocks streak as reigning champ for 8 weeks. Congratulations!

LBL Contendership Match: 3. Phil Benjamin (5-1) vs. Format (3-0)

This battle wasn’t that good for a contendership, but it was a pretty close match between two people of roughly equal talent. They both had a couple of nice lines, but mostly played stuff or concepts that were worded a bit awkwardly. I thought Phil Benjamin edged this, but I could have seen it going either way and Format won to get to the title.

5. DaTrusHurtz (18-2) vs 6. Blacksilence (2-0)

This battle looked pretty half-assed as neither person tried very hard here. Trus came pretty consistent with personals that weren’t bad, but nothing really that stood out too much. Blacksilence had something come up and his verse was very rushed. Trus ended up taking this to move onto the contendership.

7. Wordz Ahgod (2-0) vs 8. Lampejo (2-0)

This battle was pretty weak, neither person really had a solid quotable in their verse. They have faced each other many times so possibly they got bored. Both had a few ideas which weren’t bad, but really struggled to word them correctly. Lamp got a vote, but Wordz got the majority and moves onto the contendership.

9. Nick Fletcher (6-1) vs 10. Appocolyptik (2-0)

Pretty good battle here, one of the best ones of the week. Nick had some pretty dope personals in his verse and gave Appocolyptik a tough time, this battle was pretty close. Nick wasn’t quite consistent enough, though, and Appocolyptik ended up taking all the votes. It was a tough break for Nick getting 2 tough opponents in a row.

11. Ace Heratoga (5-3) vs 12. Stanza (9-11)

Stanza dropped first, and it looked like he was going to get the no-show win, but Ace dropped on Saturday. It wasn’t one of his better verses, but had a few alright lines. Stanza’s wording haunted him as usual and his lines suffered because of it. Ace’s consistency was able to get him the win here.

13. Sonny Dimebags (16-8) vs 14. Grams (3-1)

This battle was okay, Sonny had some alright stuff, as usual came with some good quotables and some really eh shit. Grams came much worse than usual, his stuff really wasn’t as original or worded well as it usually is, I was a bit disappointed. Sonny was able to walk away with the win.

15. Feeble Minded (1-0) vs 16. Wyte (1-0)

Feeble came okay, though nothing spectacular. A few personals that were nice, the rest was nothing original but pretty consistently worded well. I thought this match might make Wyte rise to the challenge, but he didn’t. He had a few concepts which could have been okay with better execution, but came up short. Feeble won this pretty easily.

17. Ali G (1-0) vs. 18. Joe Native (3-5)

Joe Native no showed so Ali G won.

19. Final (1-0) vs. 20. TEF (5-5)

Another close battle right here. TEF had the concepts, but not the execution and wording of them. Final had a cool nameplay and some other lines that weren’t too bad. Final didn’t spend much time on his verse, but was able to walk away with the W.

21. Shiest Lucia (0-1) vs. 22. Prosecuter (0-0)

Shiest dropped first, and he didn’t come very good. Mostly stuff that was played and not worded well. Prosecuter came a bit late and dropped played for the most part, but was more consistent and original than Shiest. Prosecuter ended up winning this.

23. Keyed (0-0) vs. 24. Germ (0-0)

Germ no-showed so Keyed won.

25. Thoughts (0-0) vs. 26. Infamouz (0-0)

This battle was pretty close. It wasn’t wack, but nothing in it really stood out at all, and I couldn’t find a solid quotable. Thoughts looked like he rushed his verse as I know he can come better. The voters felt that Infamouz was slightly more consistent so he walked away with the win.

27. O RLY? (0-0) vs. 28. Wireless (0-0)

This battle was a bit short and bland. O RLY? had a dope skim milk line, but the rest of his stuff was pretty played. Wireless also really needs to up his creativity and think of more original stuff. This voting was the closest all week. I personally thought O RLY? Won, but Wireless won the voting 6-5 and got the win.

29. Feeble Mind (0-0) vs. 30. MarvJay (0-0)

Double no-show. Its a shame MarvJay no-showed because I wanted the pleasure of booting him for being wack and not for no-showing.

31. Gemini (0-0) vs. 32. YOUNG PROBLEM (0-0)

This battle defined the epitomy of awful. YOUNG PROBLEM dropped late as he didn’t know he had a match. Gemini had no excuse, lol. No one voted, but I gave the win to Gemini because he was slightly more creative and didn’t drop way late.

Host Battle: Nick Fletcher vs. ~Kilo~

This battle was specially requested. It wasn’t good, Nick didn’t try at all and his verse showed it. ~Kilo~ came with a bunch of self-glory that didn’t really have any punch to it. One of ~Kilo~’s riders came in the thread, and ~Kilo~ actually garnered a legitimate vote, but Nick ended up winnin’ this.

For writing these punches, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves. I’m not including ones already listed in the worst battle of the week as I don’t want to fill this mag up twice with the same garbage. I will keep this section of the mag until I see a decrease in completely wack punches. Some of these were just so simple they were wack. Some of these just seemed very random and weren’t punches. Then he freeposted and swayed after the drops, though, he didn’t sway too much really to deserve bitch of the week, he was just one of the only candidates.

Elevation Experts

The elevation thread saw its first week of action this week. There was some activity, hopefully everyone who posted in there got some helpful tips. I encourage more of you to use this thread and post your verses from this week or past weeks to gain insight. There is nothing wrong with asking for help, it will help you elevate much quicker. Also, I will be putting up later this week the first LBL Official Tutorial. Get Excited.

People who've had to fork out 16+ line verses against tough opponents will be happy to rest their minds for next weeks battle and probably won't want to throw down good lines against a verse they're probably not going to be able to beat.

Predictions

1. John Hensley (9-1) vs. 2. Format (4-0)

Hensley finally dethroned Roger Glocks after a record breaking LBL run. Format can drop some nice stuff, but as a whole is too inconsistent and will likely not be a match for Hensley.

3. DaTrusHurtz (19-2) vs. 4. Wordz Ahgod (3-0)

We faced once before, and I emerged victorious. We agreed to a concept flipping battle here. GL

5. Appocolyptik (3-0) vs. 6. Ace Heratoga (6-3)

This battle should be nice, one of the better regular battles of the week. Ace can drop pretty dope, but with 3 battles to write for this week, he may not attention enough energy on this match. Appoc has been dropping nice lately anyway so I got him taking this.

7. Sonny Dimebags (17-8) vs. 8. Feeble Minded (2-0)

This could also be a good battle. Dimebags is a bit inconsistent, but has some cool ideas. If Feeble sleeps on him he may get upset. I think this might be closer than Feeble expects, but I think he’s gonna end up victorious.

9. Phil Benjamin (5-2) vs. 10. Ali G (2-0)

Really interesting battle here. Ali G hasn’t faced a real opponent yet, but his no-show drops have been pretty nice. Phil Benjamin isn’t bad either, this could really go either way. I’m gonna predict that Ali G wins, but he doesn’t vote so Phil gets the win.

11. Final (2-0) vs. 12. Blacksilence (3-2)

Neither person put any effort into their verse last week. As these two competitors are fairly even, I think it will come down to who wants it more. I’m going with Final in this one.

13. Prosecuter (1-0) vs. 14. Lampejo (2-1)

Lamp’s been in the league awhile, but has really struggled to improve. Prosecuter is from RB and can drop decent from time to time, though his wording still needs improvement. I’m going with Prosecuter in this one.

15. Nick Fletcher (6-2) vs. 16. Keyed (1-0)

Keyed is an up and coming RB head who is improving. I don’t think he’s quite at the level of Nick Flether yet, though. Nick has a lot of lines to write for this week and that may hurt him, but I think he’ll still take this one.

17. Infamouz (1-0) vs. 18. Wireless (1-0)

Both are from RB and about equally talented. Both struggle to really get creative concepts. I could see this going either way, very hard to predict it, but I’ll go with Infamouz here.

19. Stanza (9-12) vs. 20. Vitticus (0-0)

Vitticus, or better known as Artistik or Philly, the first 1-2-1 league champion on RV, has finally joined up. Stanza’s wins have mostly come via no-show or extremely weak opponents so I don’t see him winning this.

21. RapGod (0-0) vs. 22. Inhuman (0-0)

I don’t know who RapGod is so its hard to predict this match. Inhuman is from RB and is rapidly improving. I’ll go with him on this one.

23. Im Dope Man (0-0) vs. 24. Ancel (0-0)

Another match between RB heads. Ancel hasn’t written in a bit, he might be rusty, but is more elevated than Im Dope Man. I’m going with Ancel in this one.

25. REMIS (0-0) vs. 26. Faime S. Quotez (0-0)

Faime’s wording is decent, but he just isn’t creative enough to win against good heads. REMIS is very inconsistent, sometimes he spews out good stuff, but not always. Tough to call, I’ll go with REMIS here.

27. GREVISS (0-0) vs. 28. RyP-6 (0-0)

I don’t know anything about either, but I assume both are newbies. I’m not gonna predict this one, I”m just gonna predict that this battle will suck.

29. Germ (0-1) vs. 30. Thoughts (0-1)

Thoughts isn’t too bad, but he dropped pretty weak here last week. If he drops around how he dropped last week I’m going with Germ. If he tries harder, I can see Thoughts taking this.

This battle won’t be good, but I’m going with Black_Star

Fuck You All Battle: Nick Fletcher vs. Wordz Ahgod

This battle will be 30-40 lines long. Given Nick is used to these long battles and Wordz isn’t, I really see Wordz struggling to come up with that many good lines. I’m going with Nick here.

Alcohol Battle: DaTrusHurtz vs. Ace Heratoga

I’m 2-0 against Ace, but both battles were pretty close and could have gone either way. GL buddy.

Sports Enemies Battle: Te Ora vs. Joe Native

I’m hoping it wasn’t a mistake giving Native a battle after he no-showed last week, but Te Ora assured me he’ll show. Either way, I’m going with Te Ora.

8. Format – He’s had a nice run to the champ match. Not a bad battler, but likely overmatched this week.

7. Phil Benjamin – I personally think he won and should have been in the champ match this week, but the votes didn’t go that way. A decent battler who is elevating.
