Intro

Well, last week was kind of crazy and didn’t turn out very well. Many of the top heads had commitments come up which created no-shows for what would have been the better battles from last week. The league is still looking good though, and I am hardly discouraged. Here’s everything that went down last week.

The LBL Cypher

Cypher was fairly active as always, but unfortunately the better heads mostly didn’t post in it. I struggled to find much quotable so my standards were low. This was the best of what I saw.

Last Week’s Battle Reviews

LBL Championship: 1. John Hensley (11-1) vs. 2. Appocolyptik (5-0)

Both battler’s ended up having very busy weeks. This battle didn’t end up happening and both signed out for a few weeks.

LBL Contendership: 3. Final (4-0) vs. 4. Wordz Ahgod (4-1)

This battle wasn’t too bad, not great for a contendership, but both battlers came better than they usually do. Final’s concepts were a bit shaky and Wordz Ahgod’s wording was a bit off. In the end, I actually thought that Final actually won, but Wordz Ahgod won in the voting 5-2.

5. Feeble Minded (3-1) vs. 6. N. Tavarez (19-5)

This battle didn’t go down until Sunday morning and was only 10 lines. Not a bad battle though, a very close one as I expected it to be. Feeble came very consistent, every line but one of his was above average, but really little stood out. N. Tavarez looked a bit rusty, but was able to get the win.

7. Trunks (2-0) vs. 8. Te Ora (10-4)

Trunks no-showed and Te Ora got the win.

9. DaTrusHurtz (21-3) vs. 10. Sonny Dimebags (18-9)

This battle was okay. Trus came pretty average, likely wrote just what he thought was enough to win. Dimebags had a few tight quotables, but was inconsistent as usual. Sonny took an early 3-0 lead, but then all the votes after went to Trus and he won.

11. Wireless (2-0) vs. 12. Vitticus (2-0)

Wireless dropped on time and Vitticus dropped late. Vitticus was winning 3-2 in the votes, and Wireless decided to take the no-show win. It was a bitch move, but honestly I think Wireless won this battle pretty easily so I can understand why he did it.

13. GREVISS (2-0) vs. 14. Keyed (2-1)

Keyed no-showed so GREVISS got his 3rd no-show victory

15. TEF (6-6) vs. 16. Prosecuter (2-1)

This battle wasn’t too bad, TEF showed some real improvement on his wording I felt as he didn’t come as stretched as usual. Prosecuter had some wording issues that ruined some of his concepts. TEF ended up getting the win.

17. Comedian (10-3) vs. 18. Cocaine (3-1)

This battle was REAL close. Damn, voting was tied 5-5 when I came in to close battles so I had to cast the tiebreaking vote. Even I had it tied in quotables and I’m not sure if I picked the right winner. I went with Comedian for his consistency though and lack of statementish punches so he got the win.

19. F5TH-DAWG (1-0) vs. 20. Kimura (1-0)

Kimura no-showed so F5TH-DAWG got the win.

21. ATLAS.. (1-0) vs. 22. Lampejo (11-9)

ATLAS.. no showed so Lampejo got the win.

23. RapGod (1-0) vs. 24. Infamouz (1-2)

RapGod no-showed so Infamouz got the win.

25. Stanza (10-13) vs. 26. Faime S. Quotez (0-2)

Faime S. Quotez didn’t come as corny as usual, but still needs to up his creativity level. However, it was enough in this case as Stanza came pretty ehh as usual. Faime S. ended up winning this one.

27. Chris Stylez (0-1) vs. 28. Binary I (0-0)

Chris Stylez no-showed so Binary I won.

29. Tony Brown (0-0) vs. 30. DuPont Pluourde (0-0)

DuPont had one of the fresher nameplays I’ve seen on Tony, but other than that had too much filler. Tony had little that stood out, but came pretty consistent throughout the battle and was able to get the win.

31. Lethargic (0-0) vs. 32. Possible (0-0)

Lethargic had some cool nameplays, but strange wording on some of his lines. Possible came more simple, too simple and played really for my taste. Lethargic won, but didn’t vote so neither person got the win.

33. RaI$Ed (0-0) vs. 34. Eidolon (0-0)

Eidolon didn’t come that hard, but his style isn’t bad and with more effort I think could nicely here. RaI$Ed came pretty terrible here, it was a really simple verse with nothing to it. Eidolon would have won, but he didn’t vote so neither person won.

Gimmick Belt Title: Roger Glocks vs. Cocaine

They agreed to a presidents battle where Cocaine was Clinton and Glocks was Bush. It turned out to be a pretty nice battle. Cocaine had some really played lines, but hit Bush really hard on some of them. Glocks also came nice, but just didn’t have the KO quotables that Cocaine had so Cocaine became the first Gimmick Belt Title Holder!

Nick Fletcher is considering hanging it up from RV to spend time writing his book. Over the last month, he’s been the best member of this league when considering the quality of his drops, his quantify of drops, help with writing the series, and overall activity in the league. I would like everyone to heckle, PM, and bug him to come back ASAP

Voting

The quantity of votes on battles this week for the most part was fine, but there were a few battles this week which I really thought had pretty questionable voting and the person who I thought was a clear winner ended up losing. I’m toying with the idea of a voting council until voting improves. I’m also toying with the idea of talking to some of the doper heads, gathering their opinions, and using that to build a voting guide which should help people drop good votes. Any thoughts?

Predictions

LBL Championship: 1. Wordz Ahgod (5-1) vs. 2. N. Tavarez (20-5)

Wordz is definitely improving, but I don’t think he should have won last week. N. Tavarez looked a bit rusty, but I think he’s gonna win this and become the first 2 time champ of the LBL.

LBL Contendership: 3. DaTrusHurtz (22-3) vs. 4. GREVISS (3-0)

GREVISS has gotten 3 no-show wins. He won’t be winning by no-show this week so he should bring his best stuff. GL.

5. TEF (7-6) vs. 6. Comedian (11-2)

TEF also showed improvement last week, but will it be enough? Comedian is very consistent, but really struggles to land quotables which can win battles. I got Comedian winning here in a really close one.

7. Lampejo (12-9) vs. 8. Infamouz (2-2)

This battle likely won’t be that good, Infamouz has wording problems and Lampejo needs better concepts. I’ll go with Lampejo, but tough call.

9. Phil Benjamin (6-3) vs. 10. Faime S. Quotez (1-2)

Faime S. is finally changing that corny style, but still has a ways to go. Phil was dropping decent before no-showing in his last run with the league so I got Phil winning this one.

11. Final (4-1) vs. 12. Feeble Minded (3-2)

This battle should be okay, Final isn’t too bad, but he’s just no Feeble so I got Feeble winning this one.

13. Rush Lingo (16-5) vs. 14. Binary I (1-0)

These battlers personally requested this match so I inserted Rush into the ranks right here. They are good friends so there should be a lot of personals and this will make a good battle. I gotta go with Rush Lingo here just because I’m more familiar with his work.

15. Sonny Dimebags (18-10) vs. 16. Ali G (2-1)

This battle could be pretty good actually. Ali was dropping some cool stuff before no-showing last time, but he’s back now. Sonny is okay, almost beat Trus last week, but I’m gonna go with a surprise and say Ali G wins this.

17. Vitticus (2-1) vs. 18. Tony Brown (1-0)

Vitticus often comes a bit too stretched. Tony is pretty average, he never drops anything bad and usually has a cool quotable or two, but needs to work on his game more to get to that next level. I’m going with Tony on this one.

19. Prosecuter (2-2) vs. 20. Cocaine (3-2)

This battle should be okay. Prosecuter is getting there, just another guy who has trouble wording good concepts. Cocaine is very hit or miss with his stuff. I think he’s going to avenge last week’s close loss with a win here.

21. Stanza (10-14) vs. 22. DuPont Pluourde (0-1)

Not expecting much from this battle. Stanza landed a few wackest punches this week. DuPont needs some work, but is better than Stanza, and I think will win this.

23. Eidolon (0-1) vs. 24. Veeyo (0-0)

Tossup here, only seen 1 verse from both of these people. I can’t really say who will win without seeing more so I’m gonna go with Veeyo.

25. Don'tKnowMe (0-0) vs. 26. Typical (0-0)

Some don’t know him, but I do, lol. He’s not bad. I haven’t seen anything from Typical so I don’t know what to expect. I’ll go the safe route and say Don’tKnowMe will win this one.

27. So Rell (0-0) vs. 28. Twisted Visions (0-0)

So Rell is back after he had a nice run in the last last time. I haven’t really seen anything from Twisted Visions so I can’t comment on his work, so I’ll go with So Rell in this one.

29. J. Wizzle (0-0) vs. 30. Gay Bear (0-0)

Both of these are kinda lame names guys, sorry. I don’t know anything about either one, but J. Wizzle claims Gay Bear has ducked him on RB so I’m gonna go with J. Wizzle here.

8. Sonny Dimebags – Came close to beating DaTrusHurtz, but instead fell back to the middle of the rankings.

7. Rush Lingo – Was pretty nice in his last run in the league, but never got a title. If he tries hard he might be a serious threat in the league.

6. Final – I personally think he was robbed last week. Improving weekly, but has a tough match with Feeble this week.

5. Feeble Minded – Lost to N. Tavarez last week, but didn’t drop too bad. With some effort may eventually climb to the top of this league.

4. Comedian – Barely beat Cocaine last week. Has a good chance of beating TEF and getting to the contendership next week.

3. Wordz Ahgod – Probably shouldn’t be ranked this high, but has improved and is the current champ by default.

2. DaTrusHurtz – Beat Sonny last week to move to the contendership. Should challenge for the title once again next week.

1. N. Tavarez – Earned a nice win over Feeble. Likely that he will gain the title again this week so I gave him the top spot. Pretty dope writer.
