Book Of Thought - Week 1
"The California Edition"

Welcome, to the Book of Thought, the 'official' mag of Write Away Your Thoughts Topical League of Rapverse.com. Week one was a landslide, & because of that simple fact, this is the California Edition. There wasn't a single 'close' match as far as the votes went, but in my opinion this is only the first true warm up week for most, considering how bad the preseason went. Hopefully this week, you guys will show much more time & effort in your drops. We have a few nice additions, the biggest additions are Johnny 6-feet and Fuck Yuu. I expect them to start with a bang. This week should be interesting, there will be several that will lose their undefeated title, and a few more gaining it. Even though this is early, week 3 will be the beginning of champ and contender titles. The highest ranks will be in champ, 3rd and 4th spot will be in contender. So write well this week, because if you have a chance at getting it, me & write are only deciding who we think is best in case of a tie. So yeah, I'm very excited to get this league on its feet and running. Hopefully it'll be a great season, but you guys make that decision. Keep writing, keep showing, and keep voting.

Week 1

Man, why the hell are people not reading the rules? I post them in each and every battle thread, and I sticky'd them. This week I'm posting the rules word by word, pasted from the rules thread. & this week I'm not going to be easy on anyone who does not follow the rules. The three main rules other than the obvious ones, don't sway... If I see ANY thing other than 'uppin, good job' or some shit like that, auto three vote loss.. If you continue it'll continue to happen. Secondly, 2 links - you MUST have 2 links of battles you've voted on. If you don't you'll be DQ'd. If you continue to do the same I'm booting you for the remainder of the season. Third is the lines rule. I saw a battle where both opponents dropped 12 lines, the min. is 16, max. is 50. So, please follow the rules. Anyway, most of you didn't drop very close matches.. I was kind of disappointed, not in the writtens, but in how landslidish the votes were. I hope you guys are somewhat motivated to drop next week, and put forth the effort.

Jonathon wound up dropping a furious, mutli-packed braggodocious verse only to pick up a no-show win against his opponent. A disapointing conclusion.

Mr.Write vs. Coke Dealer

Coke dropped a nonspecific take on his topic choice but at the same time got inside his narrators head pretty well. Write brought a little more heat to his choice with an orignal concept and consistently strong imagery. Write picked up with win through his strong use of imagery and storytelling skills.

Nâ€-T vs. In-Vision

Nâ€-T picks up a no-show win this week with a verse laced with angst and introspective imagery, complete with a hook and solid vocab to tie it all together. Considering the length it's a damn shame it had to be used against an absent opponent.

Alphabetized vs. Civil.

Civil picks up the win this week with a heartwenching piece packed with vivid imagery which had the voters tearing up right off the bat. Alpha's piece contained a lot of staple's of a good topical piece, also including a strong topic choice and use of imagery. But the general consensus was that Civil is going to be a huge threat in the league based on this first showing.

MONKEY BARZ vs. bobericc_lyrics

A couple of short verses in this topical with bob winning by a landslide. Monkey dropping a multi-packed brag verse better suited for an open mic while bob brought a topically laced, introspective piece packed with well-chosen vocabulary.

JTR vs. one way

JTR picks up the win this week with a verse packed with social commentary about music controversy, something with the voters could all relate to. one way responded with a slightly more general take on his topic, short in length and with fewer multi's to help the flow along. Considered by the voters to be one of the strongest battles of the week.

By far the best battle this week. Got the most votes, the most feed, hell, it got the most attention. It was most definantly a battle to read for week one, and it shows why they are both potential powerhouses.

1. JTR
This week he was just shaking off rust, so you guys can only imagine what'll happen when his luster starts to shine. I can't wait to see what we're in store for. I just hope he doesn't disappoint. All in all, he got battle of the week, dropped fire, and he's one hell of a writer.

2. boberric_lyrics
He didn't drop within the rules of line limitations, but nonetheless he had an outstanding verse. I loved the flow and the multies, just perfect word placing. I've been keeping up with his work every now and then, and there's no doubt in my mind that he will provide some great reads throughout the season.

3. Civil.
He took Write's spot, simply because his verse was dope as hell this week. I don't know about him topically, but he showed me whats up this week. The beginning of his drop blew me away. So if he can just keep writing like he did at the beginning of his verse this week? UnSTOPABLE.

You dropped some dope shit this week, I liked it. I don't think most people did, but I thought the concept was original and dope. You could've done a lot more with it, but then again you didn't have a threatening opponent. Keep writing.

Cool shit, we're on to week 2. It seemed like it'd be forever before this season was up but its really flying by now. I appreciate those of you who followed the rules and voted. Lets keep this league striving, invite more people, spread the word. Anyway, I'm fucked up on my medicine so I need to stop writing this before ya'll are oblivious to what I'm saying...
