well, for one i dont use paintshop pro, so i cant really help you there...
most of the tutorials, if not all, your going to find here are based on photoshop so if i were you id find photoshop and ditch paintshop but sig wise, a nice starter size is suttin like 460x160 not really too big, but a nice amount of space in there...
