The metaphor is too basic, the wording again is real simplistic and it all adds up to a weak punch.

I get the metaphor, but the punch was pretty weak in general. The whole prison/bars/sucking dick has been done many times and it is pretty played now.


So yeah, overall Mimesis got this battle easily. He didn't even drop remotely close to his best, but he didn't have to. He had a couple of sparks of his old witty genius, but nothing really special. Just a worthy enough verse for the win. CALI has the main problem that he seems to still be stuck in the past with concepts and wording. You need to be a lot more creative nowadays and your concepts are all '02 played. You need to bring some fresh concepts to the table. Also, your wording is really simplistic. Simple wording only benefits with direct punches that generally would have a harshness about them. You had some played metaphors, weak wording in general and you used a quote as one of your lines which is REALLY weak and played. Overall, not a good verse. And I remember you being better than this to.

I wouldn't have used the 'sucking dick in bars/prison' concept if he hadn't just gotten out of prison because I know it's pretty much a basic metaphor. I was just doubling it up as a personal. Thanks for the feedback.

And Wordz Ahgod, I do think 'hard son' and 'start up' rhyme. In my opinion, for words to rhyme the vowels need to sound relatively the same, whereas the consonants that surround them aren't nearly as important. I think 'hard' and 'start' could both rhyme, as well as 'son' and 'up', simply because in both cases the vowels sound the exact same. It's cool if you disagree, but that's why I rhymed them. It sounds fine to me. Thanks for the vote though; I appreciate it.

wow... first off... Mim's lines connected from one line to the next....flowed well into each other... a lot of these kats don't understand what it means to bleed into the next line... Mim nailed it....

with that said... it wasn't the hottest verse i've ever seen but it did what it was supposed to do... didn't understand the brass tax line too much... somebody school me on that... but the rest was decent enough.....the broke and begging for change line was the best one of both verses...hands down.

oh...and for the record.... "start up" and "hard son" isn't "perfect" rhyming (which i am a fan of) but if you listen to a lot of rappers they generally do what mim just did and base it off of the sounds when spoken... forgot what it was called... shoulda payed more attention in English class (assonance, maybe?)
