Hip Hop Beats On A Keyboard...

IP: 6E65 1B29

I'm gonna get one for Christmas. . and I want to know what people think of them. Do you need to be able to play piano to make beats on a keyboard? And how do I know what sounds it has on it before I buy it? Obviously I'm not going to want a classical keyboard. . And how long does it take to make a well rounded beat? How much would I have to spend to buy a real nice one?

Thanks, for any info you can give me.

U can make beats on a keyboard but unless it's really high quality the sounds r going to be weak. Plus it will take u much longer to sequence a beat on a keyboard than using software.

If want to get into beats go get Fruityloops and hook ur keyboard up to your comp using a midi connection. This way u'll use ur keyboard as a 'controller', where u can fool with the keys to come up wit melodies, but instead of using the sounds on your keyboard u can make it trigger sounds in fruityloops. once u have a decent melody, sequencing a basic drum pattern will be much easier in the software, not too mention saving the music as a wav or mp3.

hmmm...

well, i'll be serious wit ya. unless u now how to play piano i think FL is going to work much better for ya. even if it takes ya months to figure it out, which it shouldn't.

but if u want to start foolin round on a piano n learn sum music composin skills then my advice is to go to a piano store n play sum of them. every piano 100's of sounds, but if ur makin beats ur goin to be using the basic Piano, String, Bass, Kick and Snare sound over n over again. if u buy sumthin that doesn't have these sounds at the quality ud like then u'r going to be dissapointed.

basically my point is: learnin to play n compose on a piano can help a lot in the long run if u want to get into beats. but its not essential, n a keyboard as a beat makin platform is not ideal, mainly cus u can't incorporate sampling, which is a HUGE part of beat makin.
