stop going to sound recorder...tahts #1...get cool edit
#2...see the lil speaker on the taskbar (bottom right) double click it...go to OPTIONS > PROPERTIES....and click the dropdown menu...go to recording...and make sure your mic is not muted..and volume up 1

go spend a G on a new computer cause you cant open up the Volume controll or you could go into controll panel ... Sound...and see if it opens through there 1
