terrorist attacks have INCREASED since we waged the war on terror. Since we have been in Iraq and running their country, support for Al Quieda has increased. This is a group that most muslims oppose. Iraq is now less free than they were under Saddam's rule. Saddam wasn't the nicest man...but he is by far not the worst dictator out there. There never were any weapons of mass distruction. Bush just had to come up with a good reason to wage war...a reason that he could easily pull over on the American people (which are very dumb when in masses so it seems.)

We are in Iraq because Iraqi oil was being bought with euros instead of the dollars that it used to be bought in. In doing so it would allow the euro to become more prevalent in the world economy lessing our power hold on the world economy. Also it doesn't allow us to inflate the dollar at will as we have been doing for a long while now. Inflation is basically counterfeiting money and getting away with it. We don't really use the oil in Iraq...we get our oil from Saudi Arabia, Canada, Nigeria and Venezuela. Iraq is like 6th on the list or so I think.

If you can control the money and the oil...you pretty much have control over the world.

If We Are Over There For Oil

Why The Fuck Is Gas And Oil So Expensive

It Would Not Be That Much Money For A Tank Of Gas If We Went Over Their To Take The Oil From Them

We Are Still Paying Them For It Every Day

You People Should Really Think Befor Posting

First off...don't tell people to grow up. This makes you look childish.

Second...gas is in fact cheap in the USA compared to just about every other location in the world. We DO NOT get most of our gas from Iraq. We get it from Saudi Arabia, Canada, Nigeria and Venezuela like I stated above.

Bush really wants to keep gas prices high so people will consume less. He is also trying to build back up the national oil reserve. Local oil companies are making a killing off current oil prices. Bush has awarded some of them government contracts.

Third...China is growing at a very fast rate. They no longer can live off of their own oil supply. They have been importing massive quantities of oil, lumber, steel, cement and other building supplies. These numbers will only increase in the future. This has driven up the price of all of these products.

And yes the war has had an effect on oil price as well. But not as much as you think. You are the one that should really think before you post...

not pickin on both of ya, but the reaason prices on gas have gone up is because the resources are going towards the war, also that 2.00 u could be paying for gas , goes like 20 cents to the gas station, 40 to the gov, 60 to the distributer 60 to the company, and so on , but having a war that we are paying for out of pocket doesnt help all that much, you also have to include trasportation costs and marketing so , yea and if we are over there for oil ice pick we wont see any of it , not at least it can be legally exported ,

The war was about the Oil, the US imports 90% of Oil from
Iraq, what the US & UK governments are doing is putting a
puppet in charge of Iraq.

This way they are in control of all the Oil exported out of Iraq
and yes all the money from the Oil is going on paying for the
troops to be out there but when the wars over thats going to
make a nice little profit.

Regardless of all the lives lost out there including my older
brother the government don't give a fuck. War is about
profit or taking over a country with a vast amount of natural
resources.

We wanted a reason to take control of Iraq and WMM was just
to keep us as people happy, they made us think that Iraq
could attack us with Germ War fear in a matter of minutes it
was all bullshit.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - As he campaigns on a platform of having made America safer, President Bush usually does not talk about nuclear disputes with North Korea and Iran that show no sign of resolution.

Bush did not mention the two countries, once branded by him as part of an "axis of evil," in his recent Republican Convention address and he has not made them a campaign staple.

Jonathan Pollack, chairman of the Strategic Research Department at the Naval War College, said even though Vice President Dick Cheney and others have admitted time is running out for curbing the North's ambitions, Bush has displayed no sense of urgency and set no deadlines for acting.

"After years of wheels spinning on this issue in this administration, you don't get a sense that there is a clear executive level decision or understanding about what we should do," he told Reuters.

Henry Sokolski of the Non-proliferation Policy Education Center said "a clock is also ticking with Iran and it may have moved to the point where we have a nuclear ready nation."

But while faulting some aspects of Bush's policy, Sokolski said "at least he's moved off dead center" and is pushing the International Atomic Energy Agency to send Iran to the U.N. Security Council for possible punitive action.

Sokolski is more critical of Democratic White House contender John Kerry for wanting to negotiate with Tehran, saying "we've passed the point of talking to Iran as equals" and a tougher approach, holding Iran responsible for its international obligations, is needed.

Bush focused on the issue in his first state of the union speech in January 2002, branding Iran and North Korea along with pre-war Iraq as members of the "axis of evil" in no small measure because of their nuclear ambitions.

Recent developments underscore the potential dangers as both Tehran and Pyongyang persist in moving forward with nuclear weapons-related activities that some say are more advanced than Iraq's program before the U.S. invasion.

On Monday, Iran said it was losing patience with U.N. inspections of its nuclear program and announced an agreement with the Europeans to halt uranium enrichment would soon end.

Washington accuses Iran of aggressively pursuing a nuclear program that could produce a weapon in three to five years. Tehran denies this, claiming it just wants to produce peaceful nuclear energy.

As for North Korea, senior U.S. officials at the weekend acknowledged they had seen suspicious activities possibly associated with nuclear test preparations. This came as a huge explosion was reported on the North's border with China.

SUSPICIOUS EXPLOSION

U.S. and other officials discounted initial suggestions of a nuclear test. But there was no definitive explanation, causing speculation about a possible military accident.

While Pyongyang is estimated to have produced one or two weapons and maybe enough nuclear fuel for a half dozen more, an actual test would add an ominous new dynamic to the region.

Kerry said "the mere fact that we are even contemplating a nuclear weapons test by North Korea highlights a massive national security failure by President Bush."

He added in a statement that during Bush's term, Pyongyang has advanced its program "and a potential route to a nuclear 9/11 is clearly visible ... (T)he president took his eye off the ball, wrongly ignoring this growing danger."

White House spokesman Scott McClellan accused Kerry of wanting to "return to the failed Clinton administration policy (which) allowed North Korea to dupe the United States. It would be the wrong approach to go down that road again."

After rejecting former President Bill Clinton's strategy of direct negotiations, Bush held Pyongyang at arms length. As with Iran, his administration was often internally at odds over North Korea, paralyzing policy.

Aiming to persuade Pyongyang to end its programs, Bush eventually agreed to six-party talks with China, Russia, Japan, and South Korea, but he only put a detailed proposal on the table last June.

Kerry told the New York Times Bush failed to put a viable proposal forward and was using the talks as political "cover."

yea jus read it i dont need to say anything else today

we don't get 90% of our oil from Iraq...

In 2002, Canada led the world in our sources of imports, at 17%, with Saudi Arabia (13.7%), Mexico (13.5%), and Venezuela (12%) in a virtual three-way tie for second. The year before the percentages were Canada - 15.4%, Saudi Arabia - 14%, Venezuela - 13%, and Mexico - 12.1%. Canada also led in 2003. In 2002, US imports from the Persian Gulf region amounted to 19.8 percent of our total imports. The same year, a total of 40% came from OPEC member nations -- which include countries such as Venezuela and Indonesia that are outside the Persian Gulf.

Why Oil is more and more expensive:

The price of Crude is up - near or over $40 per barrel.
This is because worldwide supply is tight and 1) gasoline demand in the US is up despite high prices - 4.3% more than 2003. Americans simply refuse to conserve. This is not trivial considering that the US, with 5% of the world's population, consumes 45% of the gasoline produced on earth. 2) Gasoline demand is surging in China, where crude oil imports increased 30% in 2003.

Economic woes in Venezuela are impacting US imports more than problems in the Middle East. US imports from Venezuela were down 19% in 2003, and Venezuela, Mexico, Canada, and Saudi Arabia are the US's main suppliers, at about 15% each.

The US deficit, around $500 billion in 2004, causes the value of the dollar to decline. Because oil is priced in dollars, no matter where in the world it comes from, producers want higher prices in order to maintain their income.

Even with all of this, the true price of gasoline has fallen more than 40% from its inflation-adjusted price of $2.77 per gallon in 1981. And in the US, at $1.90 per gallon, we pay about one-third of the price western Europeans and others have paid for many years.

Taken from http://www.gravmag.com/oil.html#highcost

says most of what I was saying. I think this is pretty repudable.
