I would have just kept the actual winners in.

Bob, JTR, Coke, Alpha, Civil. Then put bob through on a bye because he is the only guy who has been consistent with this, other than one way. But one way lost.

Then you do say JTR vs. Coke | Civil vs. Alpha

then the final as a 3-way... that's just me. I can see for the sake of a simple bracket quarter finals you've compromised. I just think its unfair.. in particular with LP who didn't even bother to check in and Final who got exposed for biting.

Well the 8 makes it quater finals, and I was thinking the bye thing but I didn't think a bye would keep people interested and into it, I know I didn't want a week off. I know there may be no shows this week but after that it will be fine. Just wanted to aviod the byes and three ways, run it more like a real tourney.
