This was my last battle:debaser vs. TRIBAL

Apparently I'm losing because Tribal's attempts at punches were harder. I know my punches in this verse weren't that hard, but I thought they connected better and worked more seamlessly within the flow.

My question is, is it better to disregard flow and structure, as TRIBAL clearly did here, in favor of harder punches, even if those harder punches don't really fit the rhyme scheme or help to make it a better read?

no don't disregard flow and structure...how does that hold you back? it really doesn't none of the LLL battlers disregard flow and they still have great punches...and rhyme scheme is set by you so it can take different routes and that actually makes it a better read.

I guess my real question is do people vote more for punches or for flow when it's one vs. the other?

well the most important thing in a battle are punches...more so personal punches...

it's basically like this...

punches, flow, and structure are crucial to having a good verse...and they both effect one another

if u have to write one long ass line jus to create a punch...it's no longer hard hitting and is fuckin wack because it doesn't flow and tha structure is horrible...shorten ur lines but make sure u can get tha wordplay and punch through...but don't make it so short to where it's like 4 words and turns out to be a horrible punch

that's all i can think of right now

most people look for punches.. in a battle it would be better to make them personal punches but then again thats me

Try Reading the Turorials or some of the hep that is posted in this site on how to be a better MC.. shit like that
