how many kids helplessly watch their families split up after the long dreadful experience of witnessing their parents fight and argue or even possibly become associated with domestic abuse, cheating, alcoholism, and more?

if our government wouldnt allow divorces think how much more careful men and women would be in their decisions to marry. it would lead our people to be more accurate in who is right for a happy family lifestyle and who isnt. people are freely given the option to back out of a marriage when their too far in causing it to effect the lifes of their offspring. maybe people would make less poor decisions in who they marry and it would prevent women from using men to get money through child support.

i dunno just my opinion

Do you really think people get married and know it won't work out? Making divorce illegal would just turn marriage into more of a trap. What is worse, the kid having his parents divorce, or the kid having his parents hate eachother for the rest of their lives, always fighting and cheating, possibly in extreme cases one of them murdering/hiring someone to murder their partner so that they can once again have freedom.

If you want to make something illegal to stop the problems you're talking about, idiocy would have to be illegal. Either that or selfishness, or irresponsible people having children.

you know how many "families" have kids before they're married? thats the loophole, just dont get married and the father or mother can still leave the household, banning divorce wouldnt do anything, they just wouldnt get married and still have the opportunity to abandon their family

Marriage doesn't have any value anymore. Really it's nothing but a bond that means if the man leaves the woman she gets money. Other than that it's just like leaving a regular girlfriend.

So, do you propose someone stay in an abusive relationship for the sake of staying married? Here's the problem. Most people who get married aren't ready to get married in the first place. Instead of making divorces illegal, the government should mandate counseling and therapy for couples before they're even allowed to get married.

Marriage is one of the longest standing social traditions. Lol ok, it doesn't have any significance anymore... but millions of people think it does, and it, in some form, is a major part of world cultures.

I agree with monogomy, but marraige itself HAS lost significants. People can be ultra super duper excited/shocked about something getting married, but come on, if anyones getting married that "till death do you part" shit is a joke. Everyone knows damn well if shit doesnt work out just get a divorce. There's nothing permenant. Anything permenant has even become opinionated. Some ppl say the 1st person you married will be with you in heaven, and some people say its your "true love". I mean wtf it's like happy fun play time now or some shit. I'm sure I'll still get married regardless, but like most people who do they just feel like it's something you have to do or you= a loser.
