Wild at Heart


Secretly hidden in the silent mystery of the wood
Soothing sound of nature remains misunderstood
Not thinking outside the box, failing to grasp it all
How it got me enthralled, the trees, the owl's call
Thick canopy, a burning sun tries to peer through
Never forget when the starry night made its debut
Laying on clay, unstable ground without a sound
Nothing but a pure, nature's breath can be found
So the wonderful time now reflects in my present
One with Mother Earth, not a feeling as pleasant
Feed myself with essence of a forest, my home
That splashing of fish making the wild river foam

*branches cracking*
*footsteps approach*

I turn my head to locate an alien, distant factor
A bird rapidly flees as danger would attract her
I suddenly detect a vague familiar yet evil smell
Seeking feet cause me to crawl in my safe shell
They mumble words and scream out my name
Can’t be found, everything needs to stay same!
I search for a solution, break free from a cocoon
Be away in my whole world, guided by the moon
Rags torn apart by thorns, exposing a dark skin
Lungs ready to explode yet they still closing in!
Treacherous thorns cause sudden flow of blood
And my feet get stuck in such disastrous mud
For there is no more way to escape a final fate
Yet I tried to hide but I couldn’t; now it’s too late
My mind is racing about the situation I’m facing
Unfortunately an end has come to the chasing

“Look…over there…quick, grab her!”

Here I am…captured and alone in this world
Arrow in my flesh, making everything twirled
And so I’m slowly losing track of any reality
Cruelly confronted with a life’s brutal fatality
I’ll be locked behind bars for everyone to see
But I’ll remember stars shining onto that tree
When I used to be free in wild, jungle abode
Till the true nature of humans finally showed
Although me and my beloved forest are apart
In life, I shall always remain wild at the heart
