AlcaTrakz..... i don't know... it started off okay... but than i lost interest....... that main 2bar loop....for your verse... is aight... the 1st bar of it sounds fine but when that second bar comes in... to me... it messes up the flow.... in my opinion.... the theme of the track got messed up on the hook....
.
.
mind theory...... i don't like the intro at all...the is pretty cool... but maybe better mixing would help significantly those that those mult-melodies don't fight for the same space...

well this is my first vote on a beat battle and i dont know all the technicalities and terms that are associated with it the only way i could judge is on originality creativity and how it would sound with a flow on it ya know? so if u guys dont wanna count this vote its ku i just wanted to give my opinion furthermore tell me wat to look for if u dont count it so i can properly judge these things

ANYWAY

alcatraks-like i had said before my post got ERASED! it was tight i was feeling it alot and i thought it was good with the sample that they gave yall...good shit

mind theory- good shit too i liked the bass line i didnt like the intro either but it seemed like too much was going on at some points...either way was pretty hot still

vote-alcatraks...i was just feeling it more props to both of yall

alcatrakz - i like the beat, but you flipped it exactly as i thought you were going to. The whole thing just kinda fell off and its pretty generic, not bad but you could have added to it

mind theory - the main loop is kinda cool, when it first dropped i was kinda like wtf.. but i guess my ears got adjusted to the awkwardness... i like the whole feeling of the track, i think unlike alcatrakz this beat had a little more umph, nawmean?

vote- mind theory

good battle yall,peace

DJX - I thought the intro was iight...the phaser and the phone effect always add dimension to things... although, i wasnt really feelin the selection you used from the sample... it sounds too typical i guess... you started chopping it though, and i think that helped some... the vocal synth didnt really help out, didnt effect anything either... i like the slide tahts 2 notes b4 the snare hits... i like the drums, and also the way the drums are patterened, but one thing i dont like is how this lacks a bassline... come on, if your gonna have a extreme high like "vinyl sound" then you should also have a extreme low... to match it, it makes the beat more full. Anyways, im just a super critic when it comes to beats... anotehr thing... if you were gonna make this beat so long, i think you should have at least add a more prominent change up than just cutting. But thats just my preference.

breakdown...you should have added a rolling bassline, and a more dynamic change up. This was a shaky beat from you...

ok

Mind Theory - The intro is way too long.., i can appreciate the mixing of the cuts though... ok, the beat dropped... i think... the drums are insanely weak. THe snare got the army roll thing going on... No "take charge" bassline, i can barely hear it...it sounds like a tuba. the drum and cymbal combo is pretty good, makes the mood right... Ok, the loop is starting to get on my nerves, considering its played regularly from the intro to were i am, which is about 4 minutes in. I like the temple bell hit at the chorus, and i like the synth arrangement within the chorus, good job on that, it really sets the mood, but the lack of a stand out drum and bass section is killing you man. The bassline in this kinda mood needs to make my heart hurt.

(All beats were listened to on a pair of Sennheiser HD600 headphones, and a second time on a pair of Mackie HR824 monitors.)

vote = Alcatrakz aka DJX

mind theory, you had the mood set, and could have won... but you didnt deliver the goods as far as the low end is concerned. I suggest you invest in some monitors asap. Get that THUMP up...

AlcaTrakz:

The intro was good, only complaint bout it was that it was straight form the song, not a big difference i took a straight loops in mine but i did chop a bit. No biggy
The verse riff was cool, the first to bars were cool, but i didnt like the tail, i dont like alternatings notes in anything
the hook was dope, i was really feelin it, the pause thing is live i did something like that in mine aswell
The reverse thingy was dope, added a sick ryhtmic feel
Overall it was pretty good, but yet a bit plain.

MInd Theory:

The Military drums really added a nice sound like a "death March"
The bell added a nice feel to it aswell, very death march like again
The strings added a nice overalll harmonized and full sound instead of just plain piano, that counter melody/harmony with the high strings in the hook were live, i liked it played both the role of a counter meldoy/and harmony
The the piano glissando at the end of the riff was live, however i though it could been used more effectively as a transition to the hook if it was a bit longer because it adds that "building up" feel to it. Bass was good, didnt rumble, didn't stand out to much dope beat. Overall i was feelin the beat specially cuz u chopped the same part i did bitch lol jokes.

Alcatrackz - nice chops. the melody was seemles. not too much variation but what their was fit in with the flow nicely.

MindTheory - mad creativity wit the various elements. but sum of of em were real nice but others i woulda passed on.

Vote = Alcatrackz, cus I felt his was cleaner, which gave it a better flow in my opinion.

Both beats were nice thou...glad u faced each other cus ya both woulda wooped my ass this week. pz

Both of these tracks are tyte, for what we had to work with.

Mind Theory-I can tell you ill wit the drums son, but the sample that u chose doesn't fit to me some how. Also you didn't have enough BANG in it. A good kick would do it some good (no pun). I was lovin the b-line and ambience of the whole thing though

Alccatracks-You flipped it pretty good, although ya drums is pretty basic. I agree with the homie up there, this part of the sample was very typical, so typical that I almost used it. You chopped up the sample pretty good and reversing it was very creative.

Both these tracks was ok, y'all obviously know what you doin

Vote-Alcatrakz

Alcatrakz - I think this woulda been so much doper if you spead up the tempo just a little bit. Also that synth noise was wierd. I didnt like it. On the intro your drums shoulda came in 4 beats before they did. Plus there was absolutely no base besides the kick. This was not your best. The chopping was good and I really liked the switch up with filtered drums.

Mind Theory - better sample choice. love that snare. It shoulda been a little louder tho. Same with the synth. If your levels were adjusted better this would sound hard hitting, but your mix is blah. also that piano roll was cut off way too abruptly. I was feelin the bell. Overall the beat was tight but needed a lot better mixing. You coulda switched it up a little more.

Each of you had the elements of a great beat but didnt utilize them to your fullest potential. I think overall Mind Theory had a better beat based soley on the fact that I actually got into listening to it. AlcaTrakz beat was too slow, and you really didn't put a whole lot of creativity into it. Mind Theory fell victim to his mixing. Since his downfall was really on a technical level I gave this to him.

Vote - Mind Theory
