Words travel like the wind, but are quiet like the breeze
My world is looking dim; I can’t put my mind at ease
I’m surrounded by a crowd and I still feel lonely
Those who I thought were my closest friends hardly even know me

And just when I think there’s someone in the world who understands
They can’t relate to how I feel, and fate switches hands
But beyond what most call that charm and charisma
Most people consider me to be an enigma

They can’t figure me out; my mind’s surrounded by doubt
I can’t find the road to riches cuz I took the wrong route
But who’s gonna be the one to point me in the right direction
Those who feel imperfect are sometimes closest to perfection

Reflections of a past self remain constant reminder
Of the way I was, but now the days seem kinder
So I live my life to the fullest, I can’t dwell in this sorrow
The things we do today will be our memories tomorrow

I tried to escape the loneliness through the wrong door
And it backfired, showing me all that I longed for
I remember when someone special walked hand in hand with me
That thought single handedly made an uninspired woman of me

I’d find a song that I’d connect with, but then I’d play it out
Emptiness turned me into a shiftless lay-about
A motionless pen arose, forced me to take all this
And paint a picture, refining the rawness

But slowly it happened, my brush strokes weren’t the broadest
My mind envisioned the twilight beach skyline in August
I walk along the water across the wide beach
While always staying slightly out of the tide’s reach

My life was like the sand, it transformed with each step
I wrote, and my pen told the secrets it kept
Remembering footprints behind me, seagulls flying by
I taste the air; the ocean wind, and the salty sky

The breeze caressed my face and made me wanna run away
To wherever it was going, I’d return another day
