I toss and turn this nightmare a flame to my brain
my thoughts just burn..hippy protesters slander our name and from cops they squirm..fighting in riots they expose my shame The media shows soldiers,feeding there nose,with sniffs of blow but they dont know,that is whats keep most on there toes keeps them sane.they enter there own world,the drugs ease the pain gives them a glimpse of heaven while in hell,teases the brain meanwhile I wake in a coldsweat..shorts breaths..wondering where my foes rest, will I live or my soul rest,i feel death haunting me calling me pleading with me to end the misery,tempting me I clutch my rifle and let of rounds off to drown out the whispering.. here i waddle in this rice field, its been raining for days I dont want to fight here Let the communism have its way,I seen to many die here.. my comrads are frustrated so when they aint fighting themselves they raping the women Viet Cong straping kids with bombs,so we our scopes aiming at children My soul is numb of feeling..I aint cried in months..Im done believing Screw the U.S,Uncle Sam neglecting his nephews and nieces.. whats left of my battalion has been battered to pieces we lose a soldier a day, endure a explosion a day,our tank just rolling in pain,through the debri and the smoldering flames against all odds,the purpose of existence against the certainty of death we struggling and resisting,nail and tooth each step..each breath even though most the time our enemy goes unseen takes a life or two and blends black into the scene so as backward as it seems we sit and waste ammo..blasting at the trees sometimes i sit pleading with the stars to fall and kill us all or for God to take my sight and mind,so I can forget all I saw.. seen so much pain,some ashamed to pray so they mumble under there breath Me i just trod ahead,another soilder strugglin against death..
