Nuff' Said.

Listen to what he says about "Hip" and "Hop". If you personally don't enjoy mainstream music don't listen to it. Just because someones rhymes is iller don't mean that they're more hip hop than you. Everyone does everything different. Some people enjoy other styles. I listen to both Mainstream and Underground hip hop, why? because it's all hip hop. If it sounds good, TO YOU, listen to it, if it doesn't, turn the song off. For instance when i'm chillen sometimes I like to throw on some Nas, sometimes I'll throw on something that bangs. But both Commercial and Underground music reflect different moods.

your a cop and you opinion reflects it.

How is this..

Let me tell you about the life
And how you live when you is a star
Every single place you go
The people run up to your car
Everybody wants to talk, and everybody wants to jive
Everybody wants a handshake, or want a high five
And these ugly girls always got a friend
That wants to talk to you
(Bitch, Yahhh, Yahhh, Trick)
(And your friend, Yahhh, Yahhh Too!)
Ain't got time for chitchat
I'm tryin to get this money
So get up out my face
You shit-breath dummy

an evolved version of this

I was a fiend before I became a teen
I melted microphone instead of cones of ice cream
Music orientated so when hip-hop was originated
Fitted like pieces of puzzles, complicated
’cause I grabbed the mic and try to say, " yes y’all!"
They tried to take it, and say that I’m too small
Cool, ’cause I don’t get upset
I kick a hole in the speaker, pull the plug, then I jet
Back to the lab ...without a mic to grab
So then I add all the rhymes I had
One after the other one, then I make another one
To dis the opposite then ask if the brother’s done
I get a craving like I fiend for nicotine
But I don’t need a cigarette, know what I mean?
I’m raging, ripping up the stage and
Don’t it sound amazing ’cause every rhyme is made and
Thought of, cuz it’s sort of...an addiction,
Magnatized by the mixing
Vocals, vocabulary, your verses, you’re stuck in
The mic is a drano, volcanoes erupting,
Rhymes overflowing, gradually growing
Everything is written in the cold, so it can coin-
Cide, my thoughts to guide,
48 tracks to slide
The invincible, microphone fiend rakim
Spread the word, ’cause I’m in
E-f-f-e-c-t
A smooth operator operating correctly,
But back to the problem, I gotta habit,
You can’t solve it, silly rabbit
The prescription is a hypertone that’s thorough when
I fiend for a microphone like herion
Soon as the bass kicks, I need a fix
Gimme a stage and a mic and a mix
And I’ll put you in a mood or is it a state of
Unawareness? beware, it’s the reanamator!
A menace to a microphone, a lethal weapon
An assasinator, if the people ain’t stepping
You see a part of me that you never seen
When I’m fiending for a microphone, I’m the microphone fiend...

Krs one said it best, a Emcee is a representitive of The Hip Hop culture, a Rapper is a representitive of corporate marketing having there strings pulled by a hunger for money.

Soljah Boi < Joe Budden
Jay Z < Talib Kweli
Kanye West < Pharoah Monch
50 Cent < Cunninglinguistics
lil wayne < anyone

You stated that 'we should rethink the artists we like, no one likes them because they are garbage' honestly? Maybe you should double check whos actually listening to the artists you named. Brainless fucks who have no care for the culture, have lived thinking Hip Hop started with Tupac, and get all there info on whats cool on MTV. So because we can think for ourself and not follow commercial mass appeal, we are wrong?

Go hung yaself you pathetic fuck.

By the way, for a 'author' your spelling and general grammer/punctuation is shit.

I Agree With This ....Sounds Right

But w/e the fuck you call yourself now a days. Got Soul.

You're comparing one the single greatest lyricist of all time with Soulja Boi.

You have to look at it from a bigger picture. Since you like comparing the greatest to the least greatest. Go take a look at the original Hip-Hopper's.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diiL9bqvalo

Take a listen to this song, if hip hop is dying, it was dead the day that it started.

Edited for more

You can't even come up with an intellectual argument because you're stumped.

If you were going to compare the younger person to a younger emcee at least try to compare at a different level.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGV9G2okC8I

compare him to him, yes this guys >>>>>>> over soulja boi, but soulja boi is meant for a different kind of audience. Just because you like underground hip hop and despise mainstream hip hop doesn't mean that it's not hip hop.

Now have the lyrical skills gone down? Yes on a major level. However there are emcees that still kill the mic. Production has improved and the overall projection/quality of a song is better. Music today feels a lot more "organized" I suppose, and people like that. They aren't used to different, and that's fine. Thats what appeals to them. Now do I listen to Mainstream music? Yes, but to a certain point, there are times where I have to say fuck that and go and bump some underground jawns, but like I said, music reflects the mood. I doubt if you're feeling good as shit you're going to be listening to some of the lyrics that are in most emcees raps that are underground, not a lot reflect a GOOD happy mood, they reflect a more deeper side, which is fine, but they over saturate it with deepness, as mainstream over saturates it with more upbeat music which makes most think, 'ehhhh i'll pass that typically go for the more intellectual vibes.

Hip Hop Is A Form Of Expression In Rhyme.someone Is Not Not Hip Hop Just Cuz You Dont Like Them.you Sound Like A Bunch Of Fuckin Idiots.all This New Shit Even If It Is Wack Is Still Hip Hop.hip Hop And Rap Are The Same Fuckin Thing.not Diffrent Shit.underground Does Not Mean Its Hip Hop.underground Means It Is Not Liked Enough To Be Mainstream.maybe You Should Rethink The Artists You Like Because Noone Likes Them Enough.maybe Thats Because They Are Not Really That Good.surprise!!just Because You Love Wackness Does Not Make You Hip Hops Judge.just Because You Root For The Underdog Does Not Make Them The Peoples Champ.all The People You Like Are And Always Will Be Hip Hop.i Realize Most Of You Are Under 21 And Therfore Dont Know Shit About Hip Hop Anyways.hence Why You Cant Remember Rob Base, tone Loc,biz Markie,or Run Dmc.the Guy You Hate Souljah Boy Is Just As Lyrical If Not More Then Any Of Them.have A Nice Day.

those people are good at rapping, i'm not gonna say i know what hip-hop is because its different for different people, but it matters if you are helping your listener progress with life whether or not if you are a song writer i can respect.

^exactly youare the first person who said something that made sense except for that NOONE determines who is hip hop and who is not.the guidelines have been set.rhyming words to a drumbeat is hip hop .it is that simple.little nerds try to make it all complex.hip hop is the artform.just because you dont like someone does not mean they are not hip hop.as for fat latin whore who posted above.pop just means popular music.that is what it is short for.it is not any specific type of music.yes souljah boy is pop.as is eminem.as were biggie and tupac.but they are still all hip hop.hip hop is the most popular music as of right now.it has the largest effect on the most people.as for j roy the cop.hip hop has never been for you.EVERYONE in hip hop hates the police.
