Punctuation

.::Punctuation 101::.
Punctuation is VERY overlooked by all text writing emcees..The way you write somethin out, is the way we read it..If we see a comma, we pause, if we see "..." we know to slow up.. We know how to follow the punctuation but u must have it there for us to follow..It is very important that we know where you want the pause an stops inorder to flow with your lyrics.. There are a few different types of punctuation marks you can use:

First one I will explain is the comma.. We all know what a comma looks like, nothing hard to understand.. But..Do you use them? Correctly? After you write a line or two, say it outloud to yourself and see where you pause and need punctuation.. After sayin it to yourself an realizin where its needed, write the shit down!

Periods, the lil black ones, not the red bloody ones.. Periods are not commonly used just one at a time..Its better to use them in either sets of two or three.. It all depends on your beat, this is so hard to explain.. If you say the line outloud to yourself and your lyrics end up stoppin before the end of the snare then you need to put a few periods to show that you can go ahead an take a breath.. Two periods mean a short pause, longer than a comma but not a "take a breath" mark..

Overview:

Two periods, two question, or 2 explanation marks means pause longer than you would for a comma but not enuff of a break to take a breath..

Three periods, three question, or explanation marks means its time to take a breath an get ya flow back perfect..

Two "--" marks mean the same as a comma 99% of the time, kinda pointless to use them, not even really punctuation..

The biggest thing to remember is that YOU yourself must know when and where to use punctuation.. Always read the lines outloud to yourself to find where you pause at to keep on beat, its the only way it'll work..good luck, i hope to see some betta flowin text post out there!
