Intro

Yo yo yo yo yo. Pretty weak week last week (lol), but I’m feeling pretty good over the future of this league. Mainly because we have a known name, Mets, saying the league is nice and bringing people over here. So thanks to Mets, and to anyone else who is known please tell people about the league as we have a basis for a very nice league here, we just need more competition in this and less people not voting and shit. Which leads me to my next point, voting. I believe up until the 11 vs 12 battle or something, every single battle below it either had a no-show, someone not voting, or a no-show and someone not voting. The top half of the league is fine, everyone does well with voting etc so props to them. But the bottom half is absolutely abysmal. It’s like the people in the bottom bit don’t give a shit about dropping nice or voting, it seems to be all half assing and dropping like one vote and expecting to get the win or something. So step it up, if you have the desire to win then you will win in the bottom half, as everyone is pretty much equally talented. But yeah, I’m looking forward to the coming weeks of this; I hope the special event will be dope also. If you want a battle for it, hit me up. Just checking the sign ins now also, got quite a few including Hensley, shit is looking way up.

Battle Reviews

LBL Championship Match: 1. Mimesis (6-0) vs 2. Precize (3-1)

In a battle no one thought he could win, in a battle which he shouldn’t have been in, in a battle that he’d have to drop his hardest to win, Precize came out and…got flawlessed. Yeah there was no upset here but it was never on the cards anyway, unless Mimesis no-showed I don’t think Precize could ever have won. But Precize didn’t drop all that bad, he was just outclassed. In fact, reading his verse again it was pretty good. Overdone the clichés but overall not a bad verse. His martyr bar was hot, feed bar was cool and so was the sock puppets bar. So yeah a decent verse from Precize but Mimesis just dropped raw. His opener was nice, Cize bar was ok, bitchslapped bar was decent, brace for impact bar was nice, full of shit bar was cool and his closer was aight. A hot verse. Dude is dope, he has the creativity on point and the nice wording to back it up. I don’t see him losing the title for a little while yet. Mimesis won 8-0.

LBL Contendership Match: 3. Met-A-4 (2-0) vs 4. SlicKnife (2-0)

Pretty decent battle, a few quotables from both but Met definitely had more and took this comprehensively. Met started off slow with his first couple of bars but picked it up with the belt buckle line, game bar was hot, top 10 was nice and his closer was pretty decent as well. Cool verse overall, just a bit inconsistent. Like that Slick Rick bar was mad forced and just didn’t work at all. I hate wordplay like that personally and Slic also had a bar like that which didn’t work either. Slic had the 20 seconds bar, LBL bar was pretty decent, Slic set it up nicely and it made it hit a lot harder with a decent setup and his roundabout bar was also pretty nice. Decent battle here, but Met took this easily and won 7-0.

5. Daubs (4-2) vs 6. Chrit (1-0)

Not a bad battle, but Chrit came with quite a lot more creativity than Daubs and ran away with this. Chrit’s opener was hot, MLK bar I didn’t get so enlighten me someone please and his closer was pretty nice. Daubs men opener was decent, but the menace wordplay was irrelevant as fuck, coulda just been a hard personal. Sniper bar was cool, the rest wasn’t much. Chrit got this 7-3 and moved into the contender match next week.

7. So Rell (4-1) vs 8. JTR (4-1)

Nice battle here, yet quite one sided, definitely in voting. But there was a clear-cut winner and that was JTR who won by 6 votes in the end. Bit of beef between Rell and JTR as well lol, which made it interesting. Rell had the square one bar, that was nice along with the forced wordplay bar, Original recipe bar was pretty decent as well. JTR just came with straight fire though. His opener was decent, alias bar was decent, Rellish bar was nice, TOP bar was good and the closer was nice. So yeah, JTR came real nice. Good verse by him, he’ll definitely give Chrit a good battle next week in the contender match. JTR won 6-0.

9. Rush Lingo (3-3) vs 10. K.ontroverz.Y (1-3)

Pretty weak battle here. Kon dropped nothing of note, he has this mad whack style with plenty of pointless full stops thrown in. If you’re gonna use full stops use 3, there’s no need for more than that as it just makes your structure and your whole verse look sloppy as hell. But yeah, obviously you’ve gotta have good punches as well which Kon lacked like crazy this week. Rush came eh as well, he has nice wording but his concepts are just off, he needs to have a spark of creativity as while his bars are pretty much on point with wording the concepts themselves are weak. Everyone was feeling his opener but I preferred the offlines bar, wording was ironically a bit weird but it was a decent bar. Rush won 7-0.

11. Chris Stylez (2-4) vs 12. Serbness (2-3)

Pretty weak battle. Serb dropped first with some weird bars like this one:

You just complimented the dude by saying chicks don’t want him out the house, proof read before you drop ya verses lol. Serb didn’t have any real quotables at all, but he didn’t try in the slightest cos he signed out also. Chris Stylez opener was pretty decent, nicely done bar. The rest wasn’t shit, but that bar got him 3 votes pretty much. It was tied 3-3 at the end but Serb didn’t vote so Chris picked up the win.

13. Danjure S. Writer (2-3) vs 14. Locutus (0-3)

Both dropped a single bar, Danjure’s was ehhhh as fuck. Locutus’s was laughable:

Mets: im aiight, on vacation from work so im being a loser for a week.

KempoMRK: lol nice. Straight to it, how come you're getting quite involved in this league and recruiting etc? Appreciated btw.

Mets: idk, i was gonna start a league somehwere just because the internet needs something new. the same leagues are always the good ones. and because i like leagues ran a certain way, like me, classick and allah ran the wbl. you sent me a pm and i checked out what you doin with the league and i liked it. everything was pretty much set up how i would set it up. it has a good mag and threads are up on time. thats all a league needs to get good people in it. so i figured there was no point to start from stratch when you put alot of work in the LBL, i figured i would help you out instead. The league should be a jumpoff in a few months.

KempoMRK: Good stuff man. You've recruited a few people already including Hensley and Butler, anyone else on the cards?

Mets: i didnt really recruit them, they got your pm ..i was talking the league up in a thread and i guess they seen it and was interested. you can take credit for them guys. im gonna try to get anyone to come over really, young philly is probaly gonna alias the league andwhoever else wants to. im just gonna put it on the table for a bunch of people. hopefully they join.

KempoMRK: Young Philly is dope, would be a coup to get him in the league. Aliases = Gay if your a known name in my opinion though, as names bring more people over ya know? You've champed most leagues around and your a legend at a lot of sites, what's left for you to do?

Mets: thats why i wanna help build this league. text has gotten really boring, its hard to sit and really think of punches. i usually jot ideas and form a punch. building a league kinda makes it fun again, RM and PR already know im a good battler, maybe some kids here dont, it'll be fun to see if we can make this league a success. text is a hobby and something to have fun with, it isnt a serious thing at all.

KempoMRK: I see you do audio, how does it compare to text? Do you prefer it?

Mets: i dont prefer doin it online over text or on cool edit. when i get chances to hit up studios with my boys, making songs is 1000x funner than text. but online i dont think it is. which is why ive only dropped a few things online. so as far as being online goes, text is way funner than audio. it helps me be a better writer.

KempoMRK: I get ya. What achievements can you boast of in text?

Mets: only league i enjoyed was the wbl. i won the title a few times there, had the most wins all time and im in the legends thread. its the only league i liked alot so its the only achievments i'll boast about, lol.

KempoMRK: Yeah, that was a dope league. What's your favourite battle that you had there? And tell us about it.

Mets: i lost to butler in my first champ match in 04, at that point it was probaly my dopest verse ..butler smashed it.

KempoMRK: Yeah, it'd be dope if we got him into the league. As the subject of respect was touched on in a round about way in what you just said, what battlers do you respect and feel the most?

Mets: Hens, butler and shake-zula, are my top three favorite dudes to read these days.

Mets: nah ive been around since 01', lol. i started out as the king of D12 world back in 01', some guy from my school that i smoked weed with everyday told me about bboys, he was Tyson on there. which is a god to most the bboys community. i went there in 02' and it was a wrap. turned out i wasnt that good to the bboys people, but after about a year i picked up on it and started winning. everything clicked. then we started wbl, and thats when i went from an good battler to a well respected battler.

KempoMRK: Ahh, that's why I've only heard of you from then cos of the WBL. You knew Tyson? That's crazy, people are still going on about the dude today. Give us an insight on him or something lol

Mets: lol, he's a little dude ..he looks like the donkey from shrek. nah, he's cool. his parents were awesome, we would post in his room and smoke weed religiously. he got caught up with the police and had coke and a gun on him. he's been in jail ever since.

KempoMRK: I see dude's on PR posting asking about his whereabouts, still not sure where he is and stuff. I'm gonna post this interview on PR probs, so how much longer is he gonna be in jail?

Mets: they all know he's in jail, its mostly new kids that heard about him that dont know. idk, i haveent spoke to him since about 4 months before he went in. i heard he was gonna be released this year but i dont know how much fact that is.

KempoMRK: Ah I see. Did he mentor you as such about battling or was it all you?

Mets: nah, right when he told me to sign up. he got kicked outta school and 3 months later he was in jail.

KempoMRK: On the subject of advice, what advice would you give to newer battlers?

Mets: id tell'em to stop flippin so many lines. then id tell'em that its just a hobby, you'll get better at it. it will all click one day. and to not take it serious, when you get offline text should never be whats on your mind unless your writing a little something in your free time.

Predictions

LBL Championship Match: 1. Mimesis (7-0) vs 2. Met-A-4 (3-0)

Oooh dopeness. I tend to always call battles like this dope and then they sometimes disappoint, but I don’t think and really hope that this won’t disappoint. So drop dope both of you, drop to your fullest as it could go either way. Mimesis is the better battler but Met-A is nice as well. The only difference is Mimesis is super consistent and comes with at least 4 dope quotables a week and at least a couple that are top 5 material. Where as Met seems to have a dope verse one week, then average the next then decent the next then dope etc etc. He needs to get more consistent otherwise he won’t beat Mimesis. This should be a nice battle though but I’ve got Mimesis taking this.

LBL Contendership Match: 3. Chrit (2-0) vs 4. JTR (5-1)

I’ve been quite disappointed with Chrit, he seems to be coming with only what he has to to win. Nothing that is outright dope, he just has a couple of nice punchlines thrown in here and there but no real dopeness. JTR on the other hand has been coming hot for the last few weeks and coulda been champ like 2 weeks ago if he voted. I honestly think JTR will take this, but it’s one that could so easily go the other way if Chrit drops dope. As Chrit has been around for time and he knows how to structure verses, when to drop dope and when not to, he’s a known name also. These things could work in his favour. But based on league momentum, JTR should win.

5. Rush Lingo (4-3) vs 6. Chris Stylez (3-4)

This’ll prob be ehh. Neither have been dropping great, Rush has been dropping better though. He should beat Chris fairly easily as his wording is on point, he just needs to drop some doper concepts. Rush should win this and probably will.

7. Nick Fletcher (3-2) vs 8. R-Rated (3-1)

Nick dropped hot last week, it seems like he’s not underestimating his opponents anymore lol. But yeah, he dropped mad nice. The pimp my ride bar was dopeness. R-Rated has been dropping ok lately, but no way near Nick really. Nick should get this easily.

Precize dropped decent against Mimesis last week even though he wasn’t really in with a chance of winning. Where as Daubs didn’t drop great against Chrit, it seems pic battles ain’t really his forte. Yet Daubs is generally better overall, so I’m gonna go with Daubs winning this. Should be a decent battle though.

No one will touch So Rell in this. Kon and Danjure ain’t great in the slightest as their records suggest. Rell should take this easily with 0 votes going to anyone else.

Battle of the non-voters. This is a fucking pointless battle to predict as it’s far more predictable that neither will vote and both will lose. So hey, surprise me. But L.I. will win if both drop and vote.

16. Apotheoprophet (0-1) vs 17. Jae Brix (2-2)

I dunno fuck all about Apo and it seems he doesn’t give two shits about this league. Yet I know Brix as he’s been in the league before and he’s aight. Nothing really all that special, but he has the potential to elevate and be good. So yeah, I think Apo will prob no-show which will result in Brix winning.

18. Mets (0-0) vs 19. Wicked One (0-0)

I dunno who Wicked One is, but he seems to have been around a bit on RV. His record is 40-19. But Mets is dope and is a WBL legend, has champed that league and has been around on many other sites and leagues and done well there. RBL champ as well I think. So yeah, Mets will win this.

Power Rankings

7. So Rell – Scraping in after dropping an only decent verse against JTR in a battle he got flawlessed in. But he’s nice, he just needs more experience before he can hang with the really dope people. A nice battler though, should walk his battle this week also.

6. Mets – Dude’s dope. He’s been around leagues for a while, been battling since ’01 and was even friends with Tyson who B-Boys knows very well. Should be in the champ match soon, I’m pretty confident about that.

5. Nick Fletcher – Will be in the contender match next week, I’m pretty sure about that. And he should almost certainly be in the champ match in 2 weeks as well, an easy run to the champ match it seems. How he’ll do against whoever is the champ at the time I dunno, but he’s definitely capable of winning the title.

4. Chrit – Just behind JTR due to not his skill, but the fact he ain’t been dropping dope as he can lately. He seems to half ass as such when he knows he’s gonna win and so far that tactic has worked. But he’ll have to drop dope to beat JTR, which he is definitely capable of. It ain’t me saying he’ll have to up his game, more like me reminding him to up his game lol.

3. JTR – Has been dropping really nice lately, and as I’ve already said he could have been the champ a few weeks ago if he’d of voted. He’s nice, if my prediction is right he’ll be in the champ match against Mimesis next week which’ll be a dope battle. Lately he’s become real consistent as well, prob the second most consistent in the league behind Mimesis.

2. Met-A-4 – Came into this league with little hype and made his own hype. I know he’s Untold now, never knew that before. But he’s been around and he’s a nice battler. I don’t see him beating Mimesis but if he tries his hardest and drops dope then he could.

1. Mimesis – He’s been the number one power ranking since week 3 now, and he definitely ain’t been letting up at all lately. Always drops at least 4 dope punches in his verses and is very consistent. Perfect wording for most of his stuff as well. The thing that makes him different to most is that he drops dope for any opponent. He’ll prob occupy this spot for a little while longer.

Outro

Things are really looking up for this league, Hensley has signed in, butler is showing interest as well as Lama. Mets is out recruiting and creating a buzz about the league, seems like a B-Boys revolution lol. But yeah, things are really looking good. I mean, 24 dope punches this week, that’s really really good. The only thing I did notice though is that all of those punches were from only 8 battlers, so to the rest of you, you have to step it up to hang with them. Peace.
