Check in's are due 2 days after the battles are made. (Wednesday) Verses are due 2 days after the check in date. (Friday) Every participant has 2 extensions they can use. Each good for 1-2 days. Voting goes to Sunday at 6 PM EST/ 2 PM PST. Line limit is 20-50 lines. Every participant must vote on a minimum of 3 battles. Please vote on battles that don't have a lot of votes, it doesn't do any good if a battle with 10 votes gets another while one battle has under 2 votes. Topic: Open Field REMEMBER! "Open Field" Ever since I could walk, I’ve only ever had one dream To put on that Yankees jersey and be a part of the team Just to walk with the players, and tell my kids I played with ‘em And tell stories of how I hit a home run right outta the stadium I knew it would be tough, but my desire was great indeed Even as a youngster winning games in my Little League Coming up to the plate, only a small crowd cheering my name But it was enough to drive me further towards the big game After school I’d rush home, my dad would already be waiting Supporting me all the way, a star he knew he was creating And then we moved, a new house that sat before open land My dad worked every day to transform it to something grand Eventually I saw the finished product, I didn’t make a sound Standing speechless looking over my very own baseball ground Perfectly designed, it even had its own stands for a crowd The friends I made would come to play any time they were allowed I grew up fast, but my love for baseball never vanished As I went off to college, I’d still play as much as I could manage I was the star hitter of my team, bigger crowds came to view And you can imagine my glee, when coach told me…… ……………”Yankees scouts are interested in you.” The most important game of my life, it was time to impress But my luck was away, as sadly I didn’t perform my best Nevertheless, all wasn’t lost; the scouts still came approaching me And I was shocked to discover, that they actually wanted me Inside Yankee Stadium, the whole team all ready to practice And the coach comes up to me and says, “I want you to have this.” He handed me my jersey, I stood for an eternity beaming In my head I was like an excited child, thinking, “I must be dreaming.” I practiced hard, poured my heart out, and finally got my chance Next game against the Red Sox, it was time for me to dance The crowd was really buzzing, louder than I ever had heard I was up to bat, I walked out after receiving coach’s final word So hear I am, two feet planted firmly, the bat stuck in my hands The crowd is in an uproar, Yankee cheers echo through the stands My hard work and desire, all leading to now, no time to yield As finally, my dreams come true; I am playing in the Yankee’s open field.

One kid smiles from ear to ear,showing no shame like descretions been burnt Theres a certain shine to his eye,a never before seen glee to his face definite happiness filling the dusty air,thats usually never seen in this place a man proceeds towards the group of young men and hands a diploma preparing to rush home and spread the news to his dad nursing nan in a coma says his thankyou's to his teachers and freinds,starts his quick run home unaware that these are the last smiles from his innocent face,to ever be known 9:55 am (unaware) Stripping off his graduation robe,dashes rapidly from his beloved education
without relising the devils steps are being taken,peace's gone like doves seperation gathers a fast pace with his exstatic legs to express the news at his dwelling first in his family to graduate, he shines the new hope away from usual expellings starts the new trend for the next generation,proving education is rightous despite his lifes fight it ignites the right type away from spite and as i type this his family still dont relise he could of been a new found leader in testing times 10:15 (open feild) Sirens race thru the streets of iran in attempts to prevent another casualty leaders speaking... ......"why didnt we place signs for what was placed by the facualty" mother on her hands a knees,blood staind she's pleading "cant you see" these mines are taking lives, this death of my son has damaged me he was our future hope, life's hung on the balance like a noose with rope murder is a bliss satafaction for governments like its used to cope graduation now seems distant,look's like god really doesnt have remorse as she roll's him over,notice's somthing in his pocket,she literally pause pulling out the message wished to deliver,graduation papers burnt and torn now has the answer to her question,son was gifted since he was born By standers watch vigulant as a empty mother picks up a decapitated son tears fall from her lifeless face, looks like the open feild mines once again won Last edited by Ysdat : 10-14-05 at 11:35 PM. |

yea, i have to give it to ysdat, k.s. you told a nice story, not the most original and the delivery wasn't overly creative, the rhyme scheme and vocabs were pretty basic in comparison to ysdat's, you had ok emotion but it cud've been better, the best aspect was the imagery in ure story-telling. ysdat had a more original approach on the topic, had a better rhyme scheme, his vocabs were more complex than k.s and his overall emotion and imagery were better also, this wasn't the best piece from ysdat but it was the better in this battle.. V/ - Ysdat
