we fell from a window of shattered expectations.
walking on the last shreds of dignity,
coloring jaded stained glass disciples.
he kept twelve in total, two in his stained sash,
wine drizzling grizzled grey beards.
flooding mouths like Noah’s flood
in a second incarnation of sacrificial blood...all from a pint of Mad Dog 20/20.

he spoke tales of salvation, conjuring blue rivers, and disjointed jazz rhythms....
breaths ticking like metronome clicks and hips swinging in slow earth revolutions
gyrating upon a finger delicate as sunburned pearls
red fire is too far in the distance to confuse with dawn
extinguishing darkness with a whim,
he sings to her...so far off in the distance
can she hear
sand thrown in desert oasis of dry dreams
face deep in palms drowning in the scent of his lifeline
spelling her dying wish in crumpled paper bags
yes he was a man once
he taught vivid rain dances on razorblades until the sun shook

why does the horizon burn?
my face the desolate place of god's fear
tears will never erode the time weathered face of man lost
on street corners and daydreams
