i've been standing here, prayin and hopin
while my emotions are blazin and open
enslavements a notion, do you get the caption?

i clasp my hands,
as the sun continues to laugh and dance
walking im passing plants that grow mutations
where the presidents chose are faceless
slow the hatred and spread disease and famine
jesus? damn him, keep the feet of people stampin
celebrate the great, despise the proud
disguise the lies allowed, as we date our fate
tripping the wire that she perspires in the day
not willing to face the coyote ugly that we make

gain some in the other place
change your face so everybody's the same
remember to always raise your aim
but when you're 25, get real and settle down
talk of the pot calling the kettle brown
that's politically incorrect discussion though
save the five dollars and get a loveless ho
fuck child support, make em work and earn it
besides what's their eventual purpose?
revert to the changing past, misplace the facts
so we have a true reason to invade Iraq
keep the masses daze in tact
wet cement makes our forever concrete fear
so u can collect interest..once u lend me ur ears
who would want to be defending the queers
they have no rights, just like the blacks did for years
taking action is weird,
why should i show love for you?
stand up for what i believe?,
sitting is much more comfortable
so we watch the unjust actions
so we take the beating, becomin passive
so we let our past be trapped in dirt
so we burn the facists work
so we kill the Earth
millions first, now billions hurt
i'm the paradox of humanity
bombs won't damage me
i'll never vanish, see?
i dwell in the land and sea
does god love you?
what are u wonderin for?
you're that 5 dollar loveless whore

Hmm..
Deep drops from both. I personally liked Status Quo. His had better vocab.. Kept it short and sweet. Flowed together immensely. While Maven on the other hand also had a deep verse.. But flow was off at points. Although it had a great meaning to what he told.. Maven just came more forced and less deep. Overall I would say Status Quo took this. Good battle.

Vote: Status Quo

status, man your verse had sooo many quotables, so many well written ironic lines, flow was dope and always interesting....only thing that lacked was the content a bit, a few parts it was blurry, u sacrificed content for flow, but thats not bad

maven had a bit better content, but his lyricism and charisma was no where near status's....just plain not as entertaining of a read...

good battle

Both Verses Were Very Well Written, Quo Had Some Good Flow.
And Some Nice Lines, But I Found Myself Being Bored At Times.
Maven Had A Good Structure, And The Vocab Covered Like a Blanket. And Maven Put The Topic Out In A Better Sense To Me.
I Enjoyed Mavens Verse Due To The Content And Quality.

This wasn't a bad battle .. maven had the edge with the content in his verse, he tried hard to grasp at making it deep but i didnt feel he pulled off the writers voice effectively enough here. It's like he wanted to give some real depth to his piece, and he came off decent but he didnt have that extra something needed to really bring it home. I think the length of it was its drawback actually, you didnt give yourself the room needfed to expand on it fully and capitalise, none the less, a good verse. I liked.

Status ..
.. smooth flow to this piece, rolled off the tongue nicely as i read it. Nice transition's used in this .. kept the pace nicely, good content

I only wanted to quote the first four, but the six were all connected and run into each other .. lol .. It was a nice match up, maven did well. He didnt have enough to take from stat's presence and writers voice here though.

nice verse though Jax = )

Best battle i've seen so far here in topical 101

Status- dope flow...the emotion was great... imagry n all was on point... this was a good strong piece... obviously got some talent

Maven- came good like most of the time... imagry was at a strong point... you seemed 2 pack in some emotion.. but i wasn't feelin it for some reason.. flowed ok...i don't htink i've come to like that type of structure yet... but overall good drop

hmmmmm.....close but not close.........solid verses......mavens a lil short but good content...........tha breakdown:

Status Quo: rhyme scheme- 8, flow- 8, story- 7.5, total= 23.5

tha flow won it for you, your bars kept gettin shorter and shorter........stay consistent

Maven: rhyme scheme- 7.5, flow- 7, story- 8.5, total= 23

good content.....but wasnt enough........status edged it

no hard feelins, may tha best man win, stay real, peace, 1

very nice to both of you . maven, you made it really hard to vote on this
because you posted an extraordinary verse. but the thing is, upon reading
status quo's i kind of fell in love with it, that was some of the coolest writing
i have ever seen . the entire thing was like .. the meaning of life to say
shit was sick .. good job though maven ..

status, not bad, i was really feeling your iamgery more than mavens. maven's seemed a little more topical while yours seemed really storytellinga nd had some deep meanings. maven most def had the writer's voice edge, but i think that status just had a more appealing verse and a stronger use of vocabulary.
