There's loads that are good actually. You've obviously just heard some mainstream without digging past that.

And Dizee Rascal is very good for what he is.

Furthermore, the Aussie accent is just as funky, if not more than the UK one. I've heard some UK ones which are plain and don't reveal the 'UK-Jamaica' roots too much. But they're not pretending to be something they're not (American).

Oh, but yes, the accent is the problem. Which goes along with the perception of the UK of people abraod (especially Americans).

But to say 'they're not good' is kind of ignorant. And narrow minded. One may not find an artist their taste, but should still be able to appreciate what that person is doing. His/her talent.

If british rap is so hot why is it only you british who say it's good? Face it, British hip hop won't get recognized in the US anytime soon, even if some of them rappers are good. Maybe you all can relate to that shit cuz youre from england, but we cant. Your rappers don't have as much street credibility as most US rappers. Why would I or anyone else living in a city like Chicago listen to hip hop from england, which is probably 10 years behind the US in hip hop? Besides, there are about, what, two white rappers who are good in the US hip hop industry. You really think the US hip hop audience will listen to someone who is white and from england? no shit, I know I wouldn't.

^Contrary to popular belief *ahem*...the UK isn't full of just white people.

And you've missed the point. It's the stigma attached to any hip-hop outside US. Which is done in English. Esepcially the UK.

And therefore, as you said, people in the US will find it hard to find a 'link' between themselves (their lives, tastes etc) and UK rappers in general.

It isn't ten years behind. Except maybe in terms of mainstream coverage. Maybe.

On a final note. I know a fair few people from the US who listen to UK Hip-Hop. As well as US hip-hop. And people in France (probably the biggest hip-hop scene outside US) have much respect for UK hip-hop.

bigg ez's got a point. and besides, i'm sure u don't give a crap if we like us mc's either. as long as you get to hear then. as for stark saying we're ten years behind, that belief would be entirely relative to what you like in terms of hip hop. uk hip hop isn't afraid to try new things, so in that respect in can be far ahead of a lot of commercial us stuff, some of which has stayed stagnant for years. so saying we're ten years behind is a point you can't really prove at all, specially considering you'e most liekly never heard nehting by anybody uk before. as for the accent thing, i've heard that us ladies love our accent, so i'm sure you guys could proabbly learn to bear it at least enough to hear what we have to say.
