iite... i got a soundblaster x-fi extreme music soundcard... an i recently had to do a full system restore... now that i installed my soundcard i had before the restore, its staticy now... sounds muffled and absolutely terrible. anyone no what the problem could be?...

sounds liek it's not clean or pluggedback in properly.if it were shot you wouldn't hear shit, so that's def not it. have you triedtakin it out and cleaning the contact points and applying a dab of WD40?

not the WD40, but i just let all the little dust bunnies free, ordered up all the plugs nicely, went through 3 mics, reinstalled it 3 times, an it still sounds muffled... it sounds great when im far away, but when recording with any sort of emotion it sounds terrible, ive noticed that the bars only go up half way on the mixing meter, like it doesnt wanna go past the center.

maybe u should turn your mic volume down? just a guess.

hmmm.... damn it almost sounds like you're clipping. do you have a master vol control on the sound card? if so, check see if your input vol is turned all the way up on it

no its not clippin... i no its not clippin, clippin gets distorted, this is more muddy and muffled. i managed to get it fixed so it just sounds like im talkin in a stirofome box, sounds very... odd... but its better then before... i dunno what the hell i did.

what's up with your other soundcard, how does that work and what caused you to take it out in the first place?

also did you change any settings whne you went from one to the next? if yout input vol on your computer is turned all the way up it's still gonna sound like clipping - but me just reading your text and not hearing no sound it's impossible for me to know what it sounds like

well, i updated the soundcard a year ago. i restored the computer an never took out the card, i lost the installation files along with everything forcing me to re-install it... this is where the problem occured. before i had the volume on 50% an it sound outstanding, but now on 50% it clips, so i use 32%, but no matter what it still sounds like im talkin in a stirofome box full of pissy water... i understand its hard to understand the sound, but im just lookin for any ideas that could help me solve this issue.
