*breathes in. breathes out* Day Before Been training my whole life for this, time's finally here! People say I should miss me family but I shed no tear. I mean, I barely see them anyway, what will a few years make? They say I should be back in 25 years, yet I still shake. My hand quivers and my arms rise like magnets to the ceiling, I can't believe a little trip is giving me this feeling. I pace back and forth like I'm caged inside this room, The doors only open so that I can walk into my tomb. They say my body will be fine, and soon I can be released, And that when I return in my honor they will hold a feast! I go to sleep, late around 8 (AM) like the months leading to this, As I lie awake I wonder if I really want to do this. So many things can go wrong, I've heard them say, If a laser miscalculates then I could be in the sun the next day! But if all goes well, mankind will finally accomplish their dream, We will be able to stop in the current of the flowing time stream! The Day (read slower) I'm, amazingly calm like I'm in the eye of the storm, Usually I have chills, but today the crowds are keeping me warm. Torn sides have finally merged and I know I can do this, I take my wife and children and whisper 'Let me give you a kiss" I kiss them all and wave goodbye to the society that gave me, An oppertunity to be in space and feel for once, Godly. I strap into my seat and take one final view of my home, For no matter where I roam, earth will be here, this I know. The rockets start shooting flames and some people are crying, I look out at young people gossiping and old people dying. (faster) Suddenly, the world is a blur and this pressure is so high, I couldn't lift a paperclip, no, not even a finger if I tried! Then, just as it had started, the immense pressure released, (slower) I looked out my window, and witnessed the definition of peace. In Space It's been 20 years since the day I left the world I called home, I no longer remember grass, the sky, just the metal of this dome. I've aged about 6 years and I look out into the blanket of black, Wondering where the laser is that will eventually take me back. Without warning a red beam shines into my eyes, I am blinded by this light but will not close them to my surprise. Then my ship STOPS, and starts to swing back around, However I only see black and hear my breathing as the only sound. I move my hands frantically, but still I see but blurs, Oh my god, I am blind, in my mind for what suddenly occured. Destination? Words escaped me and I realized that I had caused my fate, I wanted to go back so bad, that I just couldn't wait. Even if they remember me, what good is going back the earth? Knowing I will never see my wife or children, but that isn't my hurt. My pain is that I have to steer my way and now I have to rely, On my heart and good sense, or I will surely die. For 19 years I have been flying and so far I think I am doing well, Of course, not being able to see but still I think I can tell. I hear a clock chiime 8 times, and my heart starts to race, If the math is correct then I should be at the right place. My heart is beating so fast I think they can hear it in space, Even if I can't see them I can't wait to go and touch their face. Then the clock chime 8 again, and again, and again, How long has it been chiming that number, and when... Will I get home to hear people's chears, To hear their laughter, surprise, and feel their tears? I see a bright light and then it passes by me, What could penetrate blindess so freely? The sun, I've passed it, and my world is behind me, and without my vision, I realize that now my new home will forever be, my unknown destination.

Well, definitely gotta give this to Revelation...dope ass verse...one of, if not the most creative I've ever seen.
Spoken: your verse was good. It had good imagery an interesting twist and solid vocab. Your structure made it hard to read at times, but it was still o.k. It wasn't a bad drop by any means, you just got outshined this time. Rev: What can be said??? Great drop. Excellent twist. The plot mad the whole drop suspenseful and easy to read. Structure was great, imagery was great, and emotion was great. I' must say I think this piece was flawless. v/The Revelation |
