My american patriotism spans a little further for me than these folks. Although I'm against much of what the government does, this form of government gives people the most freedom. Yes, Canada has one-upped us by recognizing gay marriages, but I don't agree with alot of their ways and regulations. Africa itself is in a ongoing war. And many countries either rely on American resources and economy or follow our suit on certain stances. America is the leading country in regards to activisim and sub-activity are constitution allows us to congregate with who we please. Of course the bad side to this is hate groups such as KKK neo-nazi's, and black panthers reformed. But, we have many volunteer groups that help with worldy causes, the Peace Corp for one, and abolisionists against capitalisim, and obviously the list goes on. I understand that other activity and groups such as RAWA are formed over seas, but for the majority we hold an absurd number of activity groups (good and bad), religions, and blah...

I just think that despite alot of the shit that needs adjusting, America still provides its people with the most liberty to the pursuit of happiness.

just tossing in my change.

B, dude, when did you become naive?

sure, america is the most powerful country, but never the dopest. canada isn't a hell of a lot better, but basically all your federal government does is bomb people and ignore the homeless. At least we have some Coast to Coast Law.

Our goverment just ignores our starving farmers and sends money to iraq because they're starving, so I'm in no place to say Canada is better, but still. The reason they're starving is because we couldn't export our beef to america and elsewhere, because an AMERICAN cow happened to be discovered with mad cow in BC, and AMERICA said they wouldn't trade beef. What the fuck is the deal with that?

You guys fucking suck. Everyone Fucking sucks. Fuck the world, I'm moving to fiji.

(I might have some wrong info, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

LMAO, Making random comments to get a reaction from our canadian members was rather enjoyable. In case you didn't understand, I was just kidding. Although, I do love the U.S. even with it's imperfections and still believe we are the best country on the planet, I am not against other countries. Heh, although it is fun to "blame Canada."

I know they aint be teaching this scheiße in schools but...

http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/

~~~
Buoyed by victories in World Wars I and II and the end of the Cold War in 1991, the US remains the world's most powerful nation-state. The economy is marked by steady growth, low unemployment and inflation, and rapid advances in technology.
~~~
air pollution resulting in acid rain in both the US and Canada; the US is the largest single emitter of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels; water pollution from runoff of pesticides and fertilizers; very limited natural fresh water resources in much of the western part of the country require careful management; desertification (In other words, unless we be willing to pay billions of dollars on purifying salt water, we be screwed.)
~~~
white 77.1%, black 12.9%, Asian 4.2%, Amerindian and Alaska native 1.5%, native Hawaiian and other Pacific islander 0.3%, other 4% (2000)
note: a separate listing for Hispanic is not included because the US Census Bureau considers Hispanic to mean a person of Latin American descent (including persons of Cuban, Mexican, or Puerto Rican origin) living in the US who may be of any race or ethnic group (white, black, Asian, etc.)
~~~
Protestant 56%, Roman Catholic 28%, Jewish 2%, other 4%, none 10% (1989)
~~~
Dependent areas: American Samoa, Baker Island, Guam, Howland Island, Jarvis Island, Johnston Atoll, Kingman Reef, Midway Islands, Navassa Island, Northern Mariana Islands, Palmyra Atoll, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Wake Island (In other words you best respect me or else I'll tell all my fellow American Samoans to stop giving you fish.)
~~~
The US has the largest and most technologically powerful economy in the world, with a per capita GDP of $37,600. (Also note that we are capitilist, not communist. If we were communist, the government would take ALL our money, instead of just a sizeable portion. Then again, we would also be reimbursed with everything we need to live. Which not everyone has.)
~~~
The years 1994-2000 witnessed solid increases in real output, low inflation rates, and a drop in unemployment to below 5%. The year 2001 saw the end of boom psychology and performance, with output increasing only 0.3% and unemployment and business failures rising substantially. (Which may or may not be a nice way of saying, Clinton good, Bush bad.)
~~~
Population below poverty line: 12.7% (2001 est.) (That's way too much in my opinion.)
~~~
Exports - commodities: capital goods, automobiles, industrial supplies and raw materials, consumer goods, agricultural products (What it DOESN'T say is that the biggest export America has is trash. Literal garbage.)
~~~
Military expenditures - dollar figure: $276.7 billion (Suddenly a billion dollars a week to attack Iraq doesn't seem as expensive.)
~~~
Illicit drugs: consumer of cocaine shipped from Colombia through Mexico and the Caribbean; consumer of heroin, marijuana, and increasingly methamphetamine from Mexico; consumer of high-quality Southeast Asian heroin; illicit producer of cannabis, marijuana, depressants, stimulants, hallucinogens, and methamphetamine; money-laundering center (So wait... if I buy drugs imported from SOUTH AMERICA, according the government, I support terrorist in THE MIDDLE EAST. How the FUCK do they figure THAT?!?!)
Und das ist alles.
~Shalom~
our goverment is run by people who only want to get richer and more powerful, like others said theyd rather take over a new place instead of worrin bout ours, like homeloess and other shit. if they changed some laws it would do alot, and we best not start shit in other countrys till our own is on the right track. The goverment is waisting our money for munitions and shit to use on other countrys worth nothing to us. for years we never fought till attacked, now we went from the attracked to the attacker...
^^^ there are many government instituted programs for the homeless and unemployed other than gov. aid. Some will train those to get a job as well as pay for rehabilitation for drug abuse. And despite all that we still have people with out homes and bordering on poverty. I do agree some of the financial brackets need adjusting, but I feel it'll eventually come in time, mid-class is the ruling class.
The average homeless person makes 10 an hour. thats more than Mcdonald's could ever give. Some people choose to live that way. I mean I have a very big heart and I feel compassion towards humanity, but I've seen the same guy standing on the same corner, with his same vietnam vet sign, he's notorious. It was rumored that a pizzaboy actually delivered pizza to this vietnam vets house, and discovered he was living decent.
So yeah B-squared, there is still homelessness, and as long as there are lazy people and drug abusers, homelessness is here to stay. But you have to see that our homeless people are better treated and live alot better than say those in parts of Africa.
I am completely embarrased for those Americans who posted assinine comments about thier own Country. You know what, screw all this debating and slaming the US, if your not happy with you're Country, then please leave. Go live in your ideal country, and then shut up when someone invades your borders and transforms your people in the name of religion. Don't call, look or expect the US, to come bail your ass out, yet again. I am honestly disgusted by such idiotic rhetoric, juvinille platforms from which most speak, and the blatant lack of resepect for anything good. I will keep my cooments to myself about my feelings for this great nation. I don't need to describe my thoughts on freedom, cuz each one of your post, speak volumes for our freedoms.
This thread in an other "Country" would get most of you killed and or worse. So as you mock away, you are undoubtedly embracing this Country and it's freedoms. <--Point made!
Bounce is very true with saying This thread in an other "Country" would get most of you killed and or worse. So as you mock away, you are undoubtedly embracing this Country and it's freedoms. <--Point made!
which is like i said in the beggining of the thread, i know this country is the best finacially, power and at heart, but before we go and rescue other countrys, we should do so to our own. Now a days people dont give a shit of the rights we have and the freedom we have, people simply do not care about what this country used to be, and should be. Our country is starting to take the turn all other empires have., people who live in the country/empire lose unity and trust with echother. If you look back at all empires (ex. Roman,Ottoman Turks, Arabs, ect) they all failed in the end becouse people simply didnt care about the rights and what they had and could have. when you look at the flag what do you see???
