British rap

IP: 509D 5063

I know a lot of people will disagree with this but i think that British rap is on an upward swing at the moment. I believe in Britain, London especially ther are one hell of a lot of talented rappers. But it seems that rappers over here don't get the same oppertunities to shine as what the Americans do. Whether thats because there's a bigger market for rap over in the states i dunno. But what are your views on somebody British makin it in the rap industry?

AS youm said, USA have a much bigger market for rap, mainly because thats where it originated from. Probably about 40% more even people or this board are from the Uk, but to be honest it has only really been big in the U>k since Eminem spread his wings. I'm not saying rap was unheard of or no-one listened, just it became alot more mainstream.

I don't really see many BRitish rappers making worldwide status in the near future, but i hope they do someday because there is alot of wasted talent floating about

I'm just glad somebody agree's with me. What britain needs is somebody to just burst on to the scene and make an impact, just like eminem did. But then people will say oh he's just tryin to be American or he's copyin eminem's style. When that might not be the case at all. Hopefully somebody will make it and that'll pave the way for more British rappers to come through.

i think there is a minority of rappers that are british that will get a little bit of shine, slik rick, mega an mayhem, but i want to see a big british rap star blow up big world wide, but i dont see this happening.

also 90% of the rappers that be holdin down the UK either, 1:dont hav the right voice, that a lotta people will feel, an will sound great on tracks,
2: the uk's producers arent really great, they try to create an american sound, but keep it british at the same time, peeps in the UK want to make american sounding beats, but want to hav their own individual styel,
3:a lotta UK rappers fall over themselves tryin to emulate rappers in the usa, MEGA and MAYHEM, sound american,
4:the UK rappers, dont really hav much to tlk about, because the gangs an gun crimes are kept on the downlow round here, u know it goes on but no 1 publically speaks about it.

an lastly
5:the UK is always puttin US hip hop/rap joints on in the clubs because they hav a more club type feel, an catz is only gonna like the music that is played a lot, you dont buy a CD because it has a nice sleeve, do you

Yo im not from england so idk what the hip-hop scene is like over their but of what english hip-hop/music i peeped it was weak. I heard some shit os "so solid crew" and to be honest that shit was weak as hell.....its like everything has a garage feel to it wich is azz. I mean yea, I guess it would be koo if a rapper comin outta the U.K did blow up. But that person would have to come out with somethin so tiight and something new that would interest people in other countries like we do here in the U.S. But in all honesty i dont think that any english or european artist could ever blow up huge and have mad air play here in the U.S. Im Italian so when i went and visited Italy i peeped some of the hip-hop over their and it was straiight but it sounds like the american style hip-hop that was around in the early 90's here in america as far as their beats and lyrics go. I know hip-hop is new over sea's but alot of people includin myself just aiighnt feel'n yall styles and shit. Just bein honest....

If you got some hot ass u.k artist that is actually GOOD, then holla at me, ide like to peep what is comin outta their. Maybe you can change my mind about british rap, but for now its that yall is weak.....1

oh man,im gone for how ever the fuck long ive been gone for,and i see the same thing!.
lol.oh well cant help that.
to answer your question.
i do beleive theres mass talent in the u.theres alot of heads there,if their style is anythign that would be picked up as mainstream in other ocountries i dont know...i mean...look @ whats mainstream now in terms of hiphop, look @ whats blow up...lol...its bullshit im sorry.the biggest thing out of UK at the moment i think would be Big Brovaz....wich is jsut hsite anyway...dizzee rascal will get some heads nodding but i dont see him blowing up in a hge way. wich is a shame.but you have to look at the market @ the moment...mostly very confused white kids trying to fit into a fad, most hiphop heads wont go near somethign commercial, well very rarely.
unfortunetly hiphop has become a big time business. and to get into it you have to be very lucky with your conacts.and how many underground british heads have contacts with big american record exec's?...not many.
like tendincies mentioned, the majority of shit comes fromt eh US .so really you have to be there to get into the mainstream shit nahmean.
...but why would you want to be...
but theres massive amounts of illness in the UK,i wish i had more acces to the shit to be honest, its always real nice an different.

British rap sucks...unless their accent isnt noticeable...people with accents can't rap.
