my point wasn't in comparing that to a full-time salary you idiot. i'm a full-time student, my point was that i'm working to pay for my education. $3,000 will pay for almost a full year of in-state tuition, and thats just in 3-months... that was in response to you basically first using the insult of me being broke because i'm in college THEN in your very next post accusing me of riding off of my parents' money. that doesn't make any sense.

and i wasn't "dissing" you for having a kid... i was pointing out that you considered college a waste of time because it is going to put me in debt, when you are about to have a kid that in the end is going to cost you wayyyyyyy more than my college degree is going to cost me... AND, having a child isn't an investment that in the end is going to pay itself off in career opportunities.

having a kid is a wonderful thing, don't get me wrong... i'm just saying that making the argument that i'm somehow wasting my money because i'm going to be in-debt after getting my college degree isn't a very solid argument to make when you're about to have a kid that is going to cost you MORE than my degree. better SPuL? :hump:

and "pointless ass degree that will never get you anywhere"????????????

ummmmmmmmm, okay. so you just claimed that with your (maybe, i'm not even sure) high school degree you are able to establish a solid future for you and your child working at various businesses. so, when i have that degree PLUS another one, i'm somehow not going to be able to establish that "solid" future that you have? that argument is weak, it doesn't make any sense. look, you might not realize it because you're so young, but advancing in ANY career becomes extreeeeeeeemely difficult without a college degree of some kind, it is a requirement for most advancements... ESPECIALLY in the business world.

I knew you wouldn't have a rebuttal for my post.

Blay'all 05-12-08 01:20 AM

^ sorry, i didn't even see it until just now.

when i said "your views on this issue are tainted by..." that wasn't talking down or insulting your point of view at all. that is expressing that it is MY opinion (as well as most scholars on Marxism) that the hegemonic (or dominant) society in which someone lives taints the way in which they view issues and what they assume to be the "natural" way to think. that was all i was saying. that wasn't me trying to talk down your opinion or anything, i think you misunderstood me... that was me expressing MY opinion.

La Cosa Nostra 05-12-08 01:28 AM

the world is a beurocratic asshole..

blay your right, however you look at this from the perspective of someone who will be successful due to schooling...

i got a friend who did a network admin course at a local education institute much like your community colleges.. he now earns around 7 to 8 grand a week, sometimes more through running his own IT business. the course cost $3200 this is quite similar to what im doing.

thats easily a good future for your family.. not to mention with that sort of money it opens doors to making a lot more through the right avenues.

its funny blay, after 12 months study.. i can probably earn a hell of a lot more than most university students busting their ass for years.

ill also have no debt..

and shit im glad ive had a few years swinging hammer and rapping, living life in the fast lane with absolutly no schooling obligations...... its been good.. and it also hasnt effected my ability to get a career and earn a lot of money....

Blay'all 05-12-08 01:55 AM

^ yup. and see, and in reality i understand that. i'm actually one of the kids who gets into arguments with kids here who think their degree will get them everything and that a degree is necessary in order to live a successful life. thats not what i believe... i think my opinion about alot of this stuff might be skewed in this thread b/c of the fact that i felt like i needed to defend myself against attacks from people claiming i "don't have a life" or "am taking shitty classes," etc. etc. etc. so, in an attempt to prove them wrong i may have given the false impression that i over-interpret the necessity of a 4-year degree.

thats understandable.

but doesnt that bear similaritys to a lot of the apsectives of argumentitive behavior you were implying all the 'simpletons' on rapverse are acustomed to?

were you sinking to everyone elses level?

Blay'all 05-12-08 02:12 AM

^ in a sense, yes... i guess you're right.

but if i don't prove them wrong, then all of those "simpletons" will claim "victory" in their minds and go on living their e-lives thinking they are some kind of geniuses and have the world all figured out.

oh well, i guess you're right - the solution is just not giving a damn and saying PEACE.

exactly..

unless your into verbal jousting... but i think youll find its actually a common trait to make accusations on other people based on characteristics that you present yourself.. you notice other people doing it because youve been there and done that yourself.. gotta always keep an eye on that one.. even the best of us fall for it now and then whether people notice or not..

but in not giving a damn.. youve done the right thing dude.. so its all gravy really on chatverse.

hmmm, so if you degree isn't pointless...and is going to help you get a job, than explain how and where? N like i said before, its obvious that you haven't had a REAL job yet, becuase i know lots of smart people that aren't goign anywhere. Its all about how you allow peopel to percive you at a job and taking advantage of those good perceptions that will allow you to further progree....its always worked for me.

n if you want to say one thing about my daughter, we both know this....

my daughter > rapverse
