50 Cent Talking Shit About Nas..

50 was questioned a couple of times by concert promoter Lionel Bea about the role rap artists should be playing considering their huge influence over kids. 50 noted that ideally its up to the parents of these kids to explain what it is they are listening to. He felt that his music was made for an adult audience but unfortunately a lot of kids were getting hold of it.

He felt that he should be consistent with what he was about as an artist and not try and play both sides of
the fence and cause confusion. He referenced Nas' hit record 'I Can'. While he admits it was a good song for kids, he felt it was a terrible song for adult hip hoppers. He felt that Nas should've made the effort to strictly market the song via avenues like Sesame Street as opposed to coming on the airwaves and causing confusion.

50 noted that Nas had built his career around making aggressive records that deal with adult subject matter. By putting out a song like 'I Can' he misled parents into thinking that Nas is for the kids and therefore its ok to listen to his albums and follow him as an artist. A quick listen to his labums would suggest otherwise.

After these parents let their guard down and allow their kids to be exposed to Nas, 50 felt Nas would come out with other records that are adult oriented. 50 raised the question of how do you go from a record like 'Made U Look' where the chorus has him shooting and gunshot ringing to a kids record like 'I Can'. 'Is he making records for kids or adults?' 50 asked. He basically felt that as an artist he should be clear as to who he is and what he's about and own up to that responsibility.

Restless Rhymes

Mr.Christensen 11-22-03 05:25 PM

As Jay Z once said, this is out of context

Its all about the dollar, what the fuck is 50cent

Nas wants to get paid

Koalatee 11-22-03 05:50 PM

He's right. Good point - dude's (50) a marketing genius; look @ the publicity this got him. A simple conversation. . Smart man

MuhThugga 11-22-03 06:00 PM

No, 50 Cent is a fucking idiot.....anyone with half a brain knows that teenagers are the prime target for mainstream Hip-Hop because those are the people that buy into the most.

Nas made "I Can" to give out a good message to his audience.

Exactly.

Kost 11-22-03 06:13 PM

i hate 'i can'

its nas' prolouge to the next chapter in his rap career: selling out

wogzta 11-22-03 08:04 PM

^ hes already past that chapter, but i hope a part 2 doesnt come any time soon

50 cent is a pretty good business man... dont u see by saying "he makes adult music" is just gonna make teenagers wanna buy his music even more? on the other hand, Nas' strategy was putting on good image for teenagers, so that parents would let their kids buy his album... i know alot of my friends parents have problems with them buying rap albums, no matter how much the kids argue...

Accelerate 11-22-03 08:36 PM

I don't get alot of you sometimes??
First you guys complain about a rapper's gangsta image. Then, when somebody puts out a good message, there is negativity in that too. Somebody realizes that if kids are the future, then there is no real use of always putting out the street, negative image out. Alot of kids don't get positivity out there. Whether if it was for marketing or not "I Can" basically has one of the best messages out for kids, and yet you still criticize him on that. So what if he went from gangsta to little children? He isn't a sell out, because his last few songs I've been hearing our definately not aimed at little kids.

junio sixnine 11-22-03 08:43 PM

^word

i believe that nas is a mostly positive person...and I can shows it. maybe he really did feel wut he said, i believe it. 50 will never be close to what Nas is. nas talks about what he thinks while he's writing the song, but not 50. 50 is fuckin mainstream stereotype. damn bitch.

Emotion 11-22-03 08:51 PM

lol....we always play that song at parties over here, well i gues were only 15 years old..................................lol.......... ...nuthing like trying to sing that song drunk............................................. nas is alot better of an artist than 50....

HaycH 11-22-03 08:57 PM

50 aint nothing but a jelly..

"Made U Look' where the chorus has him shooting and gunshot ringing to a kids record like 'I Can'.

Most artist do this if not every. He'll never be like nas or close. At least he aint claimin to be a studio pimp.

Keep hating

AJ 11-22-03 09:09 PM

Really...who...cares...at...all? I mean rappers have been fueding forver and that is just basic fact, same thing among all artists, it is uncommon and crazy if they don't fued. Some are made for publicity and some are real. Some end in death and some end in friendships...oddly enough, but who cares, let them fight, they talk about setting examples, don't fight then, duh.

HaycH 11-22-03 09:09 PM

"alot of my friends parents have problems with them buying rap albums, no matter how much the kids argue..."

LOL

-ElocuShun- 11-22-03 09:20 PM

fuck that..jus coz nas brings out a couple of bright n happy song it dunt mean he "sold out"/"fell off"....he's a great influence to rap and always will be...peeps on this site diss peeps coz they wanna actually do well..wealth wise...wots wrong with that..they still do underground shit/mix tapes..jus concentrate more to appealin to every1 jus not one genre of music..lost tapes was ill...jus for a good example..ne1 who disses nas is jus either voicin a true opinion coz they dont like his music or they are followin the band wagon n copyin wot other peeps say...get ya own opinions pussies

wogzta 11-22-03 09:30 PM

yeah it sounds funny, but alotta parents are dicks... especially the ones who think everything that isnt classical music is bad

junio sixnine 11-22-03 09:30 PM

because 90% of the world are full blooded ignorants

MuhThugga 11-22-03 10:43 PM

I kind of hope this results in a "beef" so Nas can shut his dumb ass up.......

Baron Mynd 11-22-03 10:49 PM

^ I thought the exact same when posting this actually .. lol ..

Orpheus Rex 11-23-03 02:20 AM

He's Not Talking Shit...
He Is Just Using Nas As An Example, Saying That The Song "I Can" Could Mislead Parents Into Thinking That Their Children Can Lisiten To Nas, But Then The Kids May Buy God's Son, And Here The Song "Made You Look"...

C-Section 11-23-03 10:05 AM

but 50 is all over 2pac's dick? pac did the samething

RythmicTendicies 11-23-03 10:10 AM

Yet another thread that 50 will be hated on repetativly...

Yea..Nas is close to a legend..50 is new...how the fuck can you compare them both..

ohhh 50 is dumb nas will kill em

i think now dat jay and nas beef is dun wit dey should come out wit sum underground shit

best of both worlds-nas and jigga

D-Dizzle 11-23-03 12:05 PM

I sen the rest of that article too, 50 is real right to the point about alot of things (says Magic Stick was really for Trina but she fucked the song up and could stay on the right subject, Says Bootlegging and downlaoding can acually HELP a artist in the long run if the product is dope)

But I think most artist at some point does songs out of chracter just for the simeple fact to appeal to 'everybody'. It may not be kids but Fiddy will go from I'll Kill You to 21 Questions, and thats not a hard core song at all. At least Nas had the gull to at least try to have a positive song in regular rotation instead in all this "I'm in the club" shit all the damn time. I aint sayin don't have a good time and shit, but you gotta take care of bisniess too, everyday ain;t Saturday night.

Baron Mynd 11-23-03 12:54 PM

^ Knowledge.

Bio*Chemist 11-23-03 03:39 PM

I just want to say one thing...If Nas's 'I Can' tricks parents into letting their children buy Nas's albums.. Then the parents are Morons...

Research,.... parents have to do research on the emcee. Commen sense would tell the parent duh..This emcee may have made a positive song for the kids, but what about his motives or other albums and tracks....

Blah

Laters...

Crame Mindz 11-23-03 04:30 PM

these nuckas makin paper thats all that counts

MaJic666 11-23-03 05:11 PM

....

since when did parents make decisions for the kids anywayz. i've never had my mother tell me what freakin' album or single to buy.

MuhThugga 11-23-03 07:39 PM

I personally don't see anything that is too vulgar in Nas' rhymes....I mean....once you look past the gun references and shit and see the actual meaning behind the song....or the message he is trying to say.....it isn't as bad as people make it out to be.....

A better, more clear cut example would have been DMX.....you know his album formula.....make a "holy" track of him asking forgiveness for his sins.....the rest of the time he is killing and raping and bitch slapping and doing more killing and barking.....

Koalatee 11-23-03 07:46 PM

I love these strategically-based claims of "mainstream trash" that you morons dub anything that this site's elite dubs "mainstream." Think for yourselves for once - because, with these biased opinions & rants, you're a "mainstream" consumer who is following the crowd. & God forbid if you ever enjoyed something that your friends enjoy; I guess that would compromise your makeshift "rebel" mentalities, wouldn't it?

HK The Great 11-23-03 09:17 PM

yeah this dude is smart... none of these foos think for them selves, they just say fifty sucks, i think fifty sucks but i still bought get rich and beg for mercy... why cuz they sound tight, maybe not the tights music ever or wit the best messege and yeah it gets annoying, but i still like it cuz its fun, most people in this site are as mainstream as it gets but they dont wanna get clowned for likin 50 or Ja or DMX.. shit DMX got me into rap wit his first album, then i heard some of Ja and thought he was tight till he changed his attitude, but thats a whole different story.... anyways, am i mainstream, fuck yeah, dont mean i dont have respect or like canibus or aseop rock or jedi mind or binary star or dead prez or any of those other underground cats... just means i cant find they cds where i live so i dont get exposed to them as much but i still here them and think they are tight, they just arent the mainstream.... so anyways i got off topic i think so ama end this by sayin, i like all rap music, evenif its stupid and wack, and corny or whatever i just like rap and hip hop... the only thing i dont like is when people are too pussy to say what they really like

Baron Mynd 11-23-03 09:30 PM

^ Lol at you blatantly freeposting you fucking cunt.

BANNED.

LM 11-24-03 07:31 AM

50's got a point. He made some sense. But what Nas' song is about isnt any of his business.
I dont think he meant it as a diss to Nas but he should of kept his nose out

Dadi Kewl 11-24-03 08:12 AM

I wouldn't consider it shit talking
he was telling it as it is......what he says makes sense
he didnt say 'Fuck nas that money grabbing fucker'
He told it how he felt it.........it wasnt shit talking

Jai Blaize 12-09-03 04:23 PM

nuttins wrong wit DMX, but Nas-50... mmm

lets compare the two when 50 comes out wit an album that can tickle Illmatic...

50 50 50, all hype and no lyrics...

INsanity 12-09-03 04:55 PM

are we all forgetting the West Coast all stars and that AIDS song i think it was, or bout kids stayin in school? NWA, Ice T, some other cats, really whats wrong with puttin out a positive message. Damn, i'm pretty sure u guys are tired of hearin parents, teachers, older people, rockers down talk rap/hip hop of bein only bout violence and drugs and what not, and when people try to change that u have only negative views towards the songs or whatever. Fuck it let Nas or whoever do whatever the hell they want

wogzta 12-10-03 02:32 AM

Koalatee

when did we say mainstream sucks? if you didnt realise, nas is mainstream too

and most mainstream does suck. I can think of maybe 5 mainstream rappers that are any good, and only two of them are hugely popular. The rest are little known.

The reason it sucks:
1. Pop beats
2. Uses image instead of quality to sell
3. weak lyrics
4. Gangsta/Thug stereotypes
5. Hipocrasy (50 cent + ja rule)
6. Little or no meaning
7. fakeness

^ this isnt always, but most of the time. I'll give examples.

Pop Beats: Basically any thing released commercially is pop - In Da Club, Tha Reign, Shake Ya Tailfeather, 21 Questions etc.

Image: eg.
50 Cent (appeals to teenage boys who wanna be hard and tough)
Ja Rule (appeals to girls with all the sugary love crap)
Nelly (appeals to both with his fake thug image, and looks)

Weak Lyrics: I think we all agree on this one.

Gangsta/Thug Stereotypes: 50 Cent anyone?

Hipocrasy: Ja Rule makes a song like Mesmerize about how he's in love, then talks about killing people in "Dial M for Murder".

50 Cent claims he's a pimp who handles prostitutes for money, then has somelike 21 Questions about how he's sensitive and loving.

Little Or No Meaning: Bust down the meaning of some famous mainstream hip-hop.

In Da Club: I smoke weed and fuck bitches in the club.
Tha Reign: I'm the best.
Shake Ya Tailfeather: I want ass.
Right Thurr: Actually, I have no idea what this is about.
P.I.M.P: I wanna pimp like Snoop.
Beautiful: Your hot.
Hot In Herre: I wanna take my clothes off.
Magic Stick: I have a magical dick.

Woah. So much insight.

Fakeness: eg. Nelly

The bastard had 2 proffessional baseball contracts before he started rapping, not like he needed to hustle and sell crack to stay alive. Yet he seems to think he's a thug and a gangsta.

esp^2 12-10-03 07:55 PM

nas always got one of those "4 the kids" song on most of his albums so that shit aint no real revalation. shit where he makes the song for paper orcause he cares at least that nigga gives it a stab....i would wager 50 could'nt make a positive song if his balls were on a cutting block

a nigga is having one of those fuck a 50 cent moment
