Growing up I was the kind of outcast kid that no one likes
Playing in areas around crack pipes, gunz and stolen bikes
This is my life…
Looking back I didn’t expect to find a relief from the hard times in this hard knock life
Turning friendly conversation into…a nigga willing to make me his wife
Since the beginning I've been around people who be thinking I'm no good
But this brother was different…promised me the world…and a life outside my hood
Damn…but I'm loving it hear...thinking he jus talking mad shit
Till I'm laying with bullets in me…life on pause…that's when I get it
Nigga's words was serious…tone in his voice told me he meant it
He loving my daughter like she's his…like she started with OUR first kiss
Yet things aint like they used to be…my fault…Damn, that's something I miss
Both got drama but our hearts are staying connected
Miles away but we both working to make imperfections perfected
Never touched, never cuddled but we feel like we’ve done it all
Got me weak in da knees like SWV…just from hearing his voice when he calls

Analytically scrutinizing my numerous past congressions
Amazed at the pain that ocured in synchronized repitition

Summer of 2004, a new chapter in my life began
Though I thought it would have less significance than a one night stand

But change is inevitable, especially in time
For she showed me real love which fortified my mind

And in turn it seemed I was spiritually inclined
To see the gift God sent from the heavens divine

I love her more everyday like Ginuwine
It's unbelievable the bond between our hearts...necromantically intertwined

I haven't had the luxury of holdin her in my arms
So I can only use my words and prayers to protect her from harm

But like the saying goes "All good things must come to an end"
Going from soulmates with real love to closer than close friends

The love that we once shared hadn't faded
Only the sweet simplicities of relationships had deteriorated

Having discussions about finding what was lost...a love rekindled
Unsure if yet again we're destined to be pricked on love's spindle

We still find common ground, especially in our baby girl
Deep down I wonder if it's enough when I promise her the world

I guess it's an on going saga..."Love Lessons Learned"
Finished reminiscing...noticing the scars from my heart being burned
