how are u gonna tell me that its not a dirty word to me????

when i think of a rapper, i dont think of a person who's concerned with music as much as they are concerned with an image... and they are usually people who have little input on the production of the instrumentals and the engineering of the vocals... they'll usually have a bunch of verses that are without a specific concept (besides self-hype/bragging) and made without any sort of real purpose... they also usually glorify the types of things that they shouldnt glorify (rough lifestyle) or glorify things that they dont actually have (money, cars, clothes)

thats what just comes to mind... that doesnt mean i cant respect someone who calls themselves a rapper, because you cant read into a label that much... but thats what jumps in my head when i think of the stereotypic rapper

but when u say hip hop artist... thats when i think of people like Common, Talib, Mos, Lupe, Kanye... even if they call themselves rappers, theyre what i would call an artist

so yea, thats why i think hip-hop should be in the name
