...The future is mine...

We took the beach by storm that faithful summer day
God refused to smile.....so he left the sky gray
Knowing there would be death brought by the hands of man
He sent rain from the heavens in order to soak the sand
Off our vessels we jumped, right into the belly of the beast
Knowing full well by nights end we might be deceased
Now the fat's in the fire not a single second to think
I don't freeze up my body's directed by instincts
With rifle in hand I commence dispersing rounds
Bullets flyin over head, I have no choice...I hit the ground
Now I'm layin in prone position reloadin my weapon
An enemy moved towards me but didn't watch where he was steppin
Cuz in tha blink of an eye his body was sky high
A mine exploded dismembering him from his head to thigh
Still moving ahead I rise back to my feet
Take cover with my unit in order to escape the heat
On the verge of retreat, their soldiers are pullin units back
We’ve taken this battle….no more bustin gats
Twenty years later I still see that horrible scene
Flashbacks of the fights seem vivid as I dream
So I get outta bed and look at that bottle of gin
Wonderin y I was one that had to get drafted back then
Pour a glass as I hear the sounds of all those fallen solja’s
Etched in my memory are the sights of bodies crushed under land rova’s
So I drink that glass, though I know I’m tryna stay sober
Twenty years later the battle is done, but the war is not over
