Atmosphere - You can't imagine how much fun we're having

IP: A2CF 2639

Myself, I find this to be his dopest LP yet. With the help of Atmosphere beatmaster Ant, Slug's longtime creative partner and the secret weapon of Atmosphere's Minnesota-based Rhymesayers hip-hop collective, Atmosphere's 5th Album 'You can't imagine how much fun we're having' is intensely personal and full of lyrics that arnt fake.

1. The Arrival -

"We do it for the Candle in the sky, heres a toast; goes out to those that can't handle they highs."

The whole album is full of qoutables. This track in particular has a good beat with real lyrics.

8.4/10

2. Panic Attack - Love the abstract flow he brought to this. It was on point with a nice beat. What more could you want?

8.2/10

3. Watch Out - I consider this one of his most sarcastic and targeting tracks. The beat is good, with a mixture of good and bad lyrics in my opinion. A few verses I dont care for.

7.6/10

4. Musical Chairs - Nice ass beat, hook and emotion. Typical Slug flow with some Ant sound. Love the beat boxing at the end.

"Bobby was a genious... and he would proove it; his favorite move was to make you look stupid."

"Bring me the head of whoever said play fair, I wana sit in my chair and wear a blank stair."

8.3/10

5. Say Hey There - Another typical production with an original beat. Nice little hook.

8.5/10

6. Hockey Hair - Lovin' the beat on this one. Slug came as expected with a few quotables, but this track goes to Ant and the beat.

8.6/10

7. Bam - Fast paced lyrics, not one of my favorite tracks, but it's original as hell. Beat is abstract.

"Girlfriend, I need some help, cause this head on my shoulders wont fuck itself."

8.3/10

8. Pour Me Another - From this track on, reside the best tracks on the CD. The beat to Pour Me Another is dope, the realness and flow to the lyrics is good as fuck. The hook is good aswell. All around I was impressed immediately with this on.

"Drink it all away, numb it down to none. Stay awake tonight and wait for the sun... you say you hate your life you aint the only one. Let your frustration out the gate and watch the Pony run."

"Still tryin ta climb a mountain for you, hammer in my hand still poundin on a screw. She don't listen, so he don't speak no more, nobody's winnin' cause neither is keepin score dont wana think no more, just let me drink some more. Pour Me Another, Cause I can Still See the Floor!"

9.0/10

9. Smart Went Crazy - Best track on the album. Sick beat with dope lyrics. The hook is pretty good too. I believe this is Atmosphere first track to make it on the radio nation wide.

"Civil is simple, set the freak show loose on the nipple watch her whole fuckin' titty ripple."

"I sting like a first divorce, or them first newports, whatever hurts you more. Your headed for self destruction, been there, done that; Kicked back with the wrong Angel ta' fuck with."

9.4/10

10. Angelface - Another dope ass beat with sick lyrics to boot.

"She turned me on ta' music that i'd never heard before, she told me stories from a cup I had ta' learn to pour."

"(Down, down) Down in Gainesville, No stranger to shame. Coltrain and pain pills"

"Sittin' in the rain at some sidewalk cafe, Half of her wet cigarette in the ash tray. She's tryin' to find a lost soul to save, And I'm a lost soul trying to find a road that's paved."

9.2/10

11. That Night - This is the most off the wall beat on the CD. This tracks about a fan murder back in 2003. Good lyrics.

8.8/10

12. Get Fly - At first, this sounds like some gospel song because of the Beat and the intro. Once you get into it though its a pretty dope track.

8.6/10

13. Little Man - Another one of the best tracks on here... beat and lyric wise. Slug wrote this for his son. The first verse is directed towards his son, the second his father and the third one towards himself. Too many quotables.

9.3/10

Little Man's dope, but it kinda lost its dopeness to me considering Jean Grae did the exact same concept on "Thank You", a little over a year before the new Atmosphere album dropped. 3rd verse was directed at herself and everything.

But yeah, overall this album's pretty good, not his best though.

Which one would you say is his best then? Lucy Ford was dope as hell... i'll admit that.

As far as Atmosphere goes, I'd say Seven's Travles. But if you mean Slug, then probably Felt 2.

Felt is actually a group made up of Slug and Murs (from the Living Legends, west coast emo hip hop, dropped "The 9th Edition" with 9th Wonder on production throughout, regarded as Album of 2005). I've actually only heard a little bit of both of their albums, but I like the second one more. "Employees of the Year" is a real dope track. It's also got "Dirty Girl", which is on the Rhymesayers bonus disc that comes with the new Atmosphere album.

But yeah, if you like Slug then I can almost guarantee you'll like Murs quite a bit.

Listen to "The Pain" and "Walk Like a Man". Those are the ones that got me hooked, very detailed and emotional.

[staying on topic] Ah fuck, LV was right, I can't stay on topic. *Listens to more Murs*

Yeah, he's on the second verse. "I Hate Your Boyfriend" is pretty good too, one of his older tracks.
