Ever wonder where Dr. Dre got his "gangsta" attitude from? Well... he got it from his momma of course. According to authorities in Hidden Hills, California, Dr. Dre's mom is under investigation for allegedly firing a gun at a friend in her home, authorities said Thursday.

Verna Griffin, 54, mother of Andre "Dr. Dre" Griffin, was arrested and booked for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon on Wednesday according to Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Tim Youngern. The friend she allegedly assaulted was not injured and no motive was released.

The shooting occurred between 7 and 9 p.m. Monday at her home (owned by Dr. Dre) in Hidden Hills -- about 15 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Dre's mom wasn't at home when deputies arrived, but her car was found at a nearby gas station and a handgun was inside, sheriff's Capt. Tom Martin said. On Tuesday, deputies accompanied the alleged victim, whose name was not released, to the home and found Griffin there. She was then arrested and later released on $50,000 bail.

Dr. Dre would not comment on the arrest or altercation.
