Kanye Gets Political N' Late Registration
IP:
On his new album, Kanye West has an amazing song called “Crack Music,” but listeners might be confused at the meaning. On the song that features The Game he says, “How we stop the Black Panthers?/ Ronald Reagan cooked up an answer/ You hear that? What Gil Scott was hearing/ With our heroes and heroines? Cooked ‘em heroin."
In the 60’s, the Black Panthers – a pro-Black group- were at odds with Reagan who was then the governor of California. In an open letter to the now-deceased president, the Panthers said, “Ronald Reagan you're a fool. The people say you're a fool. You see, Reagan, the Black Panther Party will not allow you to bluff us and hinder us from teaching the masses of people the correct principles and ideologies of revolution.” It appears Kanye is spreading his music, but lacing it with political content. As previously reported, the producer’s album, Late Registration, comes out on August 16 and features Paul Wall, Maroon 5, Jay-Z, Common and others.
