A CDC press release also shows that:

* The occurrence of gonorrhea in Blacks was 18 times higher than with Whites.

* The occurrence of syphilis in Blacks was roughly 6 times higher than with Whites.

* The occurrence of chlamydia in Blacks was 8 times higher than with Whites

NYC Department of Health also found that 50% of blacks had herpes compared to 14% of whites, or a 3.5x higher rate.

So while blacks are 7x more likely to get AIDS than whites, they are also just as more likely to get other STDs too. Maybe it's the black community's lack of access or ability to pay for treatment and testing that results in the higher STD rates? If that's the case, shouldn't using a condom be even more important? Are condoms too expensive? Assuming those people who have a STD didn't get it through oral or a condom breaking, STDs should be mostly preventable because the only other way to get it is through genital-genital contact. From the above data and without knowing more info, it would appear condoms aren't being used often enough
