I listened to nothin' but mainstream for about 4 years, and i think i've elevated my rhyming skills quite nicely....you blame mainstream listeners as being single minded but at the same time you are doing exactly the same

anyway:
Immortal Technique
Cormega
Tragedy Khadafi

Jedi Mind tricks
Wordsworth is alrite as well i suppose.

I am a friend of Swingaway. he doesn't know what Underground is. Plus he would hate it. He likes G-Unit, Murphy Lee, and ja Rule. I'll see what he thinks of the Hieroglyphics.

to thread starter:

Underground rap is the hardest, most poetic, and deepest kind of music ever. Have you listened to the garbage out right now? 50cent is rapping about "after the VMA's my baby moma cussed my ass out" eminem is rapping is turning into garbage. Take for example one of the stupidest most retarted lines I've ever seen in any song, "So come on and dip, bum on your lips fuck that, cum on your lips and some on your tits and get ready cuz this shit's about to get heavy/ I just settled all my lawsuits Fuck YOU DEBBIE_!". What the fuck! has rap turned into a mainstream piece of shit were any rapper with a big enough gimmick can sell a fucking million records and become rich overnight? The truth is most of it has. The new supposed hero of rap "50cent" is nothing but garbage, garbage shined up for the kids and teenagers to listen to, the americans who think they might be a lil' more "gansta" "street" or "thug" if they listen to rappers like this. They dont understand that they are all being fucking brainwashed by the media to buy albums with no talent and 1 song that just because its voted #1 on 106 & park and just because it has a tough looking guy on the album cover, just because of that, they have to buy it. That is a bullshit. The real rappers are the ones that live on the streets, that struggled with more than just a crazy mom and a lazy dad, the real message is brought by the ones that sell coke, that know the streets. By the way, being a good rapper isnt all about street credibility, you have to have skills. Aesop rock, an underground rapper that has been filling hip hop heads mind's with brilliant rhymes that flow with amazing poetic talent, he has got to be one of the most influencial and greatest rappers of this century. He lived the streets, but he is not a "gangster" and by far does not claim to be, he simply is "aesop the fuck outa the rock" to be put in his own words. So all you mainstream dumbasses, take a couple of minutes and download songs by real MC's like Chino XL, immortal technique, brother ali, eyeade. slug, atmosphere, aesop rock, C-rayz, when you do, tell me what hip hop and rap are really about.

L.A.STR~E~TZ is the smartest person I've seen in like 2 weeks on this website.

I'd rather stick my foot in an electric turbine than listen to most of commercial hip-hop.
