Cool edit...Use multi track. You can have the beat on one track and record vocals, sound effect, etc. on another track. Then mix everything down into one song. Download the demo to Cool Edit 2.0 and i can get you a password and serial number to make it a full version...

It dont matter if the beat is on a track yet...
As long as your recording your rap while listning to the beat...
Thats why I can do collabos over the i-net and everyone can still be on beat...
I completely understand what your saying...
Cool Edit would still be the program to use...

aaihgt heres wat ya do hommie!!! you go to the one track NOT multitracks aaihgt!!! then you open your beat or vocal watever you choose!!! then go to edit>mix paste!!! find your vocal or beat you want and mix it!!! that simple!!! ya can thank me later, ahhhh nawwww im jk hommie!
