^^it very well could be. The mercedes S-class is a virtual showcase for new technology that often revolutionizes the industry. They were the first to use anti-lock brakes. Now, you can't buy a new car without anti-lock brakes.

This reminds me of Toyota's attempt to build an "uncrashable" car. Supposedly, the car could never crash. If someone tried to slam into the back of you, massive airbags would deploy and prevent them from damaging your car. If you purposely tried to run into something, the car's sensors would alert the internal computer and the car would prevent you from crashing.

no...no they couldnt...not unless you were on a PERFECTLY straight road and your tires were perfectly aligned...because you still have to steer...it just keeps you from having to push the pedals...

its just like cruise control...

cruise control isn't this adaptive...even adaptive cruise control doesn't accelerate the car back to the desired speed once the car comes to a full stop.

The new 2007 Mercedes S class will come with a feature called Distronic Plus. It's a feature that allows the car to basically drive itself. You set the controls to remain a certain distance from the car in front of you, and it'll maintain that while you don't have to use yout feet. This will even work in city stop-and-go traffic where you're constantly applying the break then gas pedal. Distronic will slow the car down and speed it back up automatically. It'll even bring the car to a complete stop if it has to.

I'm amazed by all these gidgets and gadgets. I think I would definitely try this out if I had the opportunity.

Holla

im curious as to how many people are going to blame the car for an accident.
"i didnt do it the car did, so i shouldnt have to pay. im suing the company"..
they should have left it alone. whatever happened to old fashion driving. if you dont feel like driving catch a damn bus or call a cab.

right...i mean...its better than cruise control...but it isnt autopilot...since youre still steering youd still have to be watching the road...its just easier on the ankles...
