I think y'all got it wrong, back in the day, the DJ made the beats, and scratched it up. I mean they would take the break part of a beat and loop it with the tables while the mc emceed. Then time went on where they would sample, and make their own beats, but they would throw scratches in cause that was like their solo part [see terminator X it!]. So the deejay was mainly the producer, but now, the dj is mainly a record spinner hype man type. Cause now the producer/dj, can walk on stage and rap too![see the intro for every new song]. Cause if dre does a track for you, he's not gonna go on tour and stand in the back spinnin records for you, your DJ's gonna do that. All the old school cats still get out there, and rep [premier, Jam master Jay (rip), mister Cee], cause thats how it was, and always be. But new cats don't have dj's, or rather "dj nobodies" spinnin and keepin the show goin cause they got multi producers on the album.

You don't have to produce if you're a Dj.. How many tracks do you see Q-bert producing?

Watch the scratch documentary before you speak on Dj'ing.. Not one person on this site (except maybe Nec because he's just knowledgeable in everything) would know the slightest thing about the culture.. We don't just spin discs and scratch.. There's far more to it..

im sure there are plenty of people on the site who can spin, scratch, juggle, mix and everything else that goes along with dj'ing, its not the hardest thing to learn, lol. Took me about 3 months to be able to mix my beats into eachother, was scratching within the month, still working on smoothing out my juggling.. but ive only had my tables for about 4 months, it ain't that hard...

^RAPbattles.com

Yeah that would attract a hoarde of DJ's..

Obviously you do not do anything remotely hard when juggling. . If you think it takes 4 months to become a good DJ.. You're kidding..

Post pics of your equipment.. Then I shall believe you.

DJs arent always producers just as producers arent always DJs...

and I think making a beat is alot harder than scratching a record on a turntable.

man you guys dont understand what a DJ really does. Check my previous post in here. You'll understand what a DJ is. A producer is everything else not mentioned in my explanations

theres alot more to djing than ppl think.....

but the difference is that Producers are the studio guys that do all the equalizing and alot of the beat making, but a producer can be a dj too....an example of a dj/producer is DJ Premier....he makes Gangstarr beats and spins them on stage.....a example of just a plain producer is Eminem, he makes beats but he doesnt spin them on stage.....i think thats right

yo i do know a lil about djing and i know a lil bout producing and shit... like when u a producer u make the beat everything about the beat... and u can throw a fake ass scratch on that ish so what do i think a dj does... he takes the beat and throws his own style on it... like when the dude rapping he has two of the same playin but one wit the drum and bassline and one wit the melody and piano or whatever like the same song but so he can scratch up the melody or the beat or make a fat solo or something... so he dont just scratch shit up... he make a whole new feel for that shit... and i think producing is way the fuck easier then anything else in rap... i think its way harder to rap and be good then produce and be good... so i think ive gott it down but maybe i end up not knowin shit huh??
