I remember when K-Trini first showed up on the radar. He was beefing and trying to battle Soc, so Soc told him to battle me if he wanted one of the best on RV. Then Trini said I was wack because I lost to Troop in PLL lol. The thread was closed by the time I saw it, so I couldn't explain that it was just 2 lines, which isn't enough for someone to really get into the spirit of battling IMO.

So is it just me, or does anybody else feel that there's no actual "advantage" for one person in a punchline battle?

of course someone will have an advantage, but simple probability favours the better battler the longer the verse is. Think about it. Say a good person has 80% chance of coming up with a good punch and a wack person has 30% chance. In a 1-punch battle wack person will win 0.3/(0.3+0.8) = with 27% chance. In a 5-punch (10 line) verse, chance of good person's whole verse being dope is (0.8)^5 = 0.32 (32%), wack person's whole verse being dope is (0.3)^5 = 0.002 (0.2%) chance. So wack person has only 0.2/(0.2+32) = 0.006 = 0.6% chance of winning, hehe. As you can see, the wack person's chance decreases with number of punches in the battle.

Of course this is all assuming it's possible to assing a probability to a person's punches being good and that percentage is accurate.

Of course in reality a dope person's chance of coming up with a dope punch is more like 50%(usually at most half are quoted) and a wack person's is like 20% (maybe 1 is quoted out of 5) so the odds aren't that different.

lol actually I oversimplified cos wack person doesn't have to have all dope punches to win, just more dope punches than the dope person, but given any number of dope punches, x, the wack person's chance of getting x no. of dope punches gets smaller and smaller compared to the dope person's, as x increases.

LOL, oh yea, Daedal, LLL is actually one of the better leagues on the net talent wise, Im top 20 on B-boys and havent faced anyone i thought was even decent. and RM is prolly the best right now, considering its activity and amount of people, but talent wise I dont think its over LLL. Since LLL only allows a select few in. Anyhow, if u dont know me now, ull know me when I face u and u lose. And thats word.

I never said LLL wasn't good. There is just a shit load of bitching and drama and shit that I don't want in a text battle league.

RM was pretty wack... i signed in teh league.. n won 2 battles easy.. then i finally get to battle someone dope.. n i can't get on my comp to drop a verse...
