Two sides of a barrier separated by depression and lies,
Crossing the line is a risk of life exploding at the hand of a mine.
Time heals all wounds, but no one fully recouperates,
No matter if you the president or just a resident of the state.
The sky was blue, clear and sunny, everything seamed at peace,
Just paid the bill of the car, and we were extending our lease.
Left for a foreign land for a visit, leaving the father behind,
We always thought he was loyal, so worries had crossed our mind.
Encouraging us to stay for a week we thought cuz life was at its peak,
We figured why not? It is a good time that we seek.
We laughed on the journey, and arrived in spirits that touched the sky,
After a few days we left the place, had a sick feeling but I didn't know why.
Like something was eating me inside and something was startin pry,
Then within 3 months I knew the reason, and a part of died.
Christmas passed with glory and gifts, nothing on my wish list missed,
Playin a game when I was playin, figured I did something wrong and was in deep ish.
Dad says hes movin out, bein seein another woman for some time now,
I say, haha, ya right dad, so whats the real news as I'm raisin my eyebrow.
Says he's bein serious, there's no joke being pulled over my eyes,
A million thoughts start racin, but no questions are asked I just started to cry.
Why would he do this to me and my mother, to my sister and brothers,
How would I ever move past this tragedy, how could I ever recover?
So it all came outta the closet, and the truth was being revealed,
So much I didn't know about, as a kid I was becoming an adult, pains so real.
I never felt so much hate and disgust for a creature like I did that year,
Living everyday as a battle and having to overcome my fear.
I turned to so many people, and yet everything I trusted failed,
I wanted to just grab some money, clothes, music, and go ahead and bail.
But I knew at the end of the tale, nothing positive would ever arise,
My mom needed my strength, and all my friends needed me at their side.
So I kept my head up, learned more about my family then I knew,
The perfect life I thought I had, was just a lie so now I know the truth.
One lie started the confessions, and now I know how the world rotates,
You are either kissed by an angel, or you are stabbed in the heart by fate.
