The Final Countdown


Like fluffy pillows, clouds float around as if people can dance on them
Webs by black widows, buzzing bees sound as if they romance them
Little children play carelessly amid those blossoming flowers
They're Indians today, cowboys tomorrow in these early hours
No worries can be found within their being for they are free
They're rolling on the ground: no sin they're seeing when they hear me
Fluttering butterflies fill the sky along with birds and bees
Mother sings before nature goes awry: gone are herds and seeds
The summer suddenly approaches, the warmth turns hotter now
To numb her; crawling cockroaches weren't only things mother saw
It hurts to see how it can all disappear in one second
So now I ask thee: "Is the Apocalypse near, you reckon?"

As the pigeons have grown tired, their wings too sweaty to fly
Men fall with bloody attire, siblings scream: “oh dear God why?!”
Heated hatred soars high, red stains keep polluting the green fields
Many ask but more cry, for pains love and friendship were no shields
Nuclear and political bombs drop to shock and devour
Optimists no longer smile; they’ve stopped to mock the sour
In society’s darkest hour even though the sun shines
Damped rain comes pouring down….
Bodies have been dragged through mud lines
Destructive diseases spread but we’re too consumed with warfare
As the boundaries are met of what is considered false or fair
Rage flickers inside the eyes, summer took over common sense
Murders committed to hide the lies, no more shred of intelligence
To young soldier’s life expense, we desperately keep up our defense

But the fall is where the evil lurks as the dark swallow the light
It enthralls, on a courageous quest we’d embark, follow the fright
We decide to leave our warm nest as the leaves now leave the trees
Yet we still don’t see it coming although history is a mere reprise
The path we are on is covered with dirt, colors and pairs of footprints
Of the many that walked this before, hiding in the bush with shin splints
To revenge the suffering they endured embarking upon this journey
Their horrifying presence they obscured till they yell: “We’ll burn thee!”
Opposing groups stand face to face, trembling hands present in both
Determined to erase every trace of the opponent’s once rapid growth
Those shadows engulf us all; the victory taken by something out of reach
But we still rise high, no fall…the Lord came to shout and preach
Although He himself fears it’s just an idle attempt to save what’s lost
He will try his best to make this a better place but at what cost?

As we all expected the winter to arrive, it left us behind with the hunger
For a sudden, cold breeze to revive but the days didn’t turn any younger
Time went by; no one even remembers what period we are currently in
Or should be in. Does snow fall? Are the tides high or do the birds sing?
I turn sick of it all; driven by an impulse I quickly closed my eye lids
I do not view where I have been taken to; please let it be hell God forbids
I may be better off there but that’s not where I am, only thing I feel is sand
It’s all around me!!! I cannot escape this suffocating hell, this no man’s land
I have grip with the outdoor world but my finger tops merely reach the air
Caught in a state of despair, as I feel water approach: I indulge in prayer
For I know what this means, it has been said in the ancient tales I heard
The most horrifying scenes the world has seen but why me? Isn’t it absurd?
Why do I have to endure the end of the world as a burden on my shoulders?
Was it me that spoiled this shining pearl? Or were it society’s strong holders?
The leaders that sought and found someone to blame, to erase mistakes
I got lost in thoughts till a tidal wave awakes me and raises the stakes


Yet another Apocalypse ruined the world, will we never learn?
But God whispers: he who plays with fire shall suffer the burn
